GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager!

Reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering, the Technical Manager is responsible for the technical leadership of design, development, and implementation of engineering technical solutions. The TM provides senior level technical expertise to the project, engineering and technical teams, ensures product deliverables meet company, customer, and quality expectations. The Technical Manager regularly interacts with internal delivery teams, subcontractors, and customer technical representatives.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Ownership: Acts as the technical expert for the project team and contributes to projects/programs from quote consultation to client delivery.
  • Project Delivery: Contribute to the planning, development, and delivery of engineering initiatives.
  • Planning: Support the project/program manager in project planning including work breakdown, resource management, procurement, and scheduling.
  • Mentorship: Mentor engineer and technical teams by providing technical guidance and support in resolving complex engineering challenges, sharing knowledge, and reviewing performance.
  • Collaboration: Work with and promote collaboration with cross‑functional teams including project management, operations, and quality assurance.
  • Configuration Management: Support configuration management initiatives, contributing technical expertise, procedure, documentation.
  • Communication: Engage with technical teams, clients, management, and other departments to ensure project alignment.
  • Client Relations: Support program/project managers with customers on technical topics.
  • Risk Management: Anticipate, identify, mitigate, and manage risks and roadblocks.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or related field)
  • 15+ years of engineering experience in a related field.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Extensive technical capability and experience that provides you with confidence to make multi‑dimensional technical decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, project engineering, or technical management.
  • Experience interacting with SMEs, developers, engineers and technicians from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering tools, software and project management methodologies.
  • Leadership experience and training is an asset.
  • Experience in marine systems, defence, or aerospace sectors, an asset.
  • Holds a valid Canadian passport.
Security Requirements
