Career Opportunity

GeoSpectrum is growing and excited to offer a new opportunity for an experienced System Safety Engineer to join our team!

Reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering, the System Safety Engineer will play a key role in strengthening and evolving GeoSpectrum’s system safety practices. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of our delivered products by applying system‑level safety principles across both hardware and software domains.

You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate safety risks, helping to ensure mission success in demanding operational environments. This position is well‑suited to someone with strong knowledge of industry safety standards—particularly MIL‑STD‑882E—and experience supporting safety‑critical systems within the defense, marine, or aerospace sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing organization while contributing to the safety and performance of complex, real‑world systems.

  • Actively contribute to the product lifecycle by preparing and delivering safety‑focused presentations and participating in design reviews, test readiness reviews, technical interchange meetings, and internal and customer‑facing safety working groups.
  • Ensure system safety documentation aligns with customer expectations and contractual requirements, supporting successful program execution and compliance.
  • Lead system safety engineering working groups to apply and implement MIL‑STD‑882E or equivalent international system safety standards.
  • Collaborate closely with systems engineering teams to identify hazards and define Safety Functional Requirements early in the design process.
  • Review internal and acceptance test procedures to verify alignment with established system safety requirements and objectives.
  • Play a key role in advancing and strengthening the organization’s System Safety processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Support compliance efforts by helping assess products and systems against applicable environmental regulations and standards, including REACH and RoHS.

  • Proven experience performing hazard identification, hazard analysis, risk mitigation, and developing supporting safety documentation.
  • Working knowledge of MIL‑STD‑882E, including experience with software Level of Rigor (LOR).
  • Experience conducting Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and applying other recognized system safety engineering tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with additional relevant industry standards and/or range safety standards.
