The purpose of this position is to improve the overall reliability of Kruger Industrial facilities by systematically reducing process and equipment failures and improving reliability processes. The incumbent partners with manufacturing facilities and other resources (internal or external) to provide hands-on technical assistance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reliability Systems Monitoring and Analysis – Track and analyze reliability, maintenance, and operating data to identify improvement opportunities. Conduct field surveys to identify strengths and weaknesses in each facility’s reliability systems. Develop improvement recommendations and provide assistance to help implement changes.
- Knowledge Transfer – Provide effective and in-depth hands-on technical training. The incumbent must be recognized as a subject matter expert and a teacher. Functional knowledge of specific maintenance technology is expected. He / she should have the ability to provide training to individuals or to small and large groups, either in a classroom setting or in the field.
- Networking and Team Building – Provide ongoing mentoring and leadership within areas of expertise. Provide personal consulting and interaction that fosters teamwork and cooperation in the workplace. Facilitate the implementation of the Integrated Operational Excellence Playbook across all manufacturing locations.
- Reliability Best Practices Development – Lead the identification of better or new reliability practices within Kruger Industrial. Facilitate their dissemination and implementation across all facilities, as applicable.
- Bad Actor Problem Resolution and Failure Event Assistance – Assist facilities in resolving chronic problems. Help analyze causal factors, root causes, and corrective action plans to build resiliency. As needed, provide expertise and assistance for failures exceeding the facility’s technical capabilities.
Key Challenges and Requirements of the Position :
- Provide personal leadership and influence to create sustained change within Kruger Industrial’s Maintenance and Operating units.
- Provide continuous instruction and transfer of best practices to team members during Operations’ assessments and reliability reviews, and as a part of the Reliability Playbook implementation.
- Evaluate new technology and its implementation applicable to facility reliability.
- Provide reliability advice and guidance during the initial evaluation, scope development, and detail design engineering of new projects.
- Provide business leadership and functional guidance in all elements of Planning and Scheduling Work Systems, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and complementary tools.
- Assess existing CMMS metrics, including the research of process industry standards, gain stakeholder consensus, and drive change.
- Research, develop, and promote a comprehensive training plan for end users of planning and scheduling systems and tools.
- Interact with reliability subject matter experts and ensure the effective exchange of information on all manufacturing and Reliability Playbook elements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Engineering degree and five to 10 years of combined maintenance, operations, and project engineering leadership experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience should cover both the management and technical areas associated with day-to-day and short-range leadership of multi-disciplinary teams within the reliability, engineering, and production functions of manufacturing.
- Leadership skills and abilities that enable him / her to motivate team members with widely varying levels of knowledge and experience.
- Experience in CMMS systems is highly desirable.
- Formal change management experience is also desirable.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Firm grasp of the essential elements of reliability within a manufacturing facility.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the demonstrated ability to interact with team members at all levels.
- Expertise in any or all of the current Reliability Playbook elements is a plus.
- Will be required to travel across North America, primarily in Canadian provinces. He / she must be willing to provide 24 / 7 assistance to manufacturing facilities, as required.
LANGUAGES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in French and English.
Knowledge of English is required for this specific position as Kruger deals with partners across North America and the successful candidate will be required to communicate frequently with them. Kruger has taken all reasonable steps to avoid imposing English language requirements, including assessing the actual language needs associated with the duties to be performed, ensuring that the language skills already required of other employees were insufficient for the performance of those duties, and limiting as much as possible the number of positions with duties requiring English language skills.
