Job summary

EnviroCentre in Ottawa seeks a Technical Coordinator to liaison with Registered Energy Advisors and contractors, verify energy audits, and create detailed work plans. You will troubleshoot sites and monitor progress to align with program standards and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in green building, retrofits, construction, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in residential building construction or retrofit work.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and effectively problem solve.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Sound understanding of residential energy modeling and building science.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Experience with Hot2000 an asset.
  • A general understanding of sustainability and environmental issues.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with energy advisors and installation contractors to ensure work meets program requirements and timelines.
  • Troubleshoot site challenges and resolve workplan discrepancies.
  • Provide required reporting and tracking information to leadership.
  • Track, report, and resolve invoice discrepancies between insulation contractors.
  • Create and update work plans.
  • Collaborate with File Modellers to update work plans as required.
  • Implement safety policies and industry standards to prevent injuries.
  • Identify program needs and stay updated on retrofit best practices.
  • Support tracking of program performance metrics and reporting.
  • Maintain relationships with advisors, contractors, clients and stakeholders.
  • Participate in or manage internal EnviroCentre committees and activities.
  • Work in accordance with health and safety legislation and policies.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Job Summary

The Technical Coordinator liaises with Registered Energy Advisors and installation contractors, performs quality checks on energy audits, troubleshoots site challenges and work plan discrepancies, and creates work plans for contractors. The Technical Coordinator should have a strong understanding of residential construction, retrofit work, retrofit industry standards and best practices, as well as a general understanding of environmental sustainability to support the Technical Manager in tracking and reporting work in progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaising with Registered Energy Advisors and installation contractors to ensure work is being completed in accordance with approved program requirements, standards, and timelines.
  • Working with Registered Energy Advisors and installation contractors to troubleshoot site challenges and workplan discrepancies.
  • Providing the Director of Energy Affordability Programs and the Technical Manager with all relevant information, including reporting and tracking, as required.
  • Tracking, reporting, and resolving invoice discrepancies between insulation contractors.
  • Creating work plans.
  • Working in collaboration with the File Modellers to update workplans as required.
  • Implementing EnviroCentre’s policies, procedures and protocols to prevent and reduce workplace risks and injuries. This includes regular verifications, knowledge of industry standards and safety practices.
  • Helping to identify program needs.
  • Staying up to date on technical advances in building science and retrofit best practices.
  • Supporting the tracking of program performance objectives/metrics and associated reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with advisors, contractors, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Participating in or managing internal EnviroCentre committees and activities that support broader organizational objectives.
  • Working in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Performing other duties as necessary.
