Who We Are

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rail and Systems (SSE‑SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Technical Coordinator, Geotechnical to join our team.

What You Will Do
  • Coordinate all geotechnical design activities across investigations, foundations, earthworks, retaining systems, and excavation support.
  • Review geotechnical designs, calculations, drawings, and reports for compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Provide constructability‑focused technical input in collaboration with construction, civil, and structural teams.
  • Identify and manage geotechnical risks including settlement, ground movement, groundwater, vibration, and slope stability.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive geotechnical monitoring and instrumentation programs aligned with design assumptions and construction staging.
  • Specify instrumentation types and layouts and oversee installation, commissioning, and calibration.
  • Interpret monitoring data, identify trends or exceedances, and provide timely technical advice and alerts.
  • Establish and manage trigger/action response plans (TARPs).
  • Prepare clear monitoring reports and dashboards for technical, management, and client stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary geotechnical interface with designers, contractors, subconsultants, and clients.
  • Support procurement, commercial discussions, and claims related to ground conditions.
  • Provide ongoing geotechnical support during construction, including site visits and technical reviews.
Experience You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering (geotechnical specialty), or related discipline.
  • Professional designation (P.Eng. or equivalent); P.Geo. considered an asset depending on background.
  • 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering on large transportation or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with geotechnical monitoring and instrumentation programs, from specification through data interpretation.
  • Strong technical background in foundations, earthworks, retaining systems, excavation support, and groundwater control.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical analysis and modelling software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, FLAC) and familiarity with CAD/BIM environments.
  • Experience interpreting site investigation data and integrating monitoring feedback into design and construction decisions.
  • Strong understanding of constructability and field execution in active construction environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable guidance.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, schedule‑driven project environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and inclusive teamwork.
Why Join Us?

Compensation: $95,000 - $115,000 annually. The listed salary range reflects potential base pay and considers factors such as experience, education, and training. Each candidate is evaluated individually and offers toward the higher end may be extended to those with exceptional qualifications.

  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits and RRSP matching plans.
  • The opportunity to work on one of the most exciting rail projects in Toronto.
  • A wide array of learning and development opportunities.
  • A work environment focused on health and safety.
