Qualifications

Technical Communicator - Power Systems (Canada wide)

The Technical Communicator will provide valuable support to our Heavy Equipment Technicians and product support staff through top technical expertise on our Caterpillar Product Line.

Pay Type

Full Time, Permanent

Compensation

$83,000.00 to $93,000.00

The listed base salary is just one component of our total rewards package, and performance-based or discretionary bonuses may be available.

In a typical day, YOU will:

• Model the way for safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours in support of Toromont's Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
• Provide technical support tofield service teams, technicians and customers through external research and Caterpillar's Product Support
• UtilizeToromont and Cat on-line systems for research and reporting
• Manage timely responses to technical inquiries from service, parts and sales departments
• Remain current on any product line changes and coordinate with all branches to communicate market and product issues and updates to Caterpillar and Toromont Cat divisions
• Provide technical support as liaison between Toromont and Cat's engineering and product groups
• Prepare and conduct presentations for sales, service and factory technical communication meetings
• Actively participate in product problem management and continuous product improvement programs/meetings
• Travel to assist Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR) and Branches as required
• Periodically provide technical seminars, small training sessions, and create technical documentation as required

Must-haves for this role:

• Prior experience in EPG, Heavy Equipment, or Truck and Coach industries with a focus on Power Systems
• Minimum of 5 years Commercial and Industrial Field Service experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing Commercial Engines and Power Generation equipment
• Experience with Cat 3500 Series engines
• Highly safety conscious
• Strong technical aptitude with a solid knowledge of products and services supported by Toromont Cat
• Knowledge of and ability to conduct failure analysis is an asset
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills
• Results driven with solid business acumen and customer centric with proven commitment to deliver internal and external service excellence
• Continuous Improvement mindset, self-motivated and collaborative team player able to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
• Adaptable and able to address competing and multiple priorities by planning effective strategies and remaining current on the market conditions
• Highly computer literate with proficiencies in Microsoft Applications Experience with Cat systems/DBS/SIS would be highly beneficial
• Willing and able to travel and work outside regular business hours as required
• A valid Passport and Driver's License with current clean Driver's Abstract
• Fluency in French considered an asset
