Job summary

BrainRidge Consulting seeks a Technical Business Analyst to bridge business and technology teams on client engagements in financial services. You will lead elicitation, analyze, and document requirements to guide developers, architects, and QA in delivering compliant technology solutions.

You will own current and future state process/data flows, API interfaces, and backlog management, collaborating with product owners and engineers in a hybrid Maritimes office setup.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst on technology delivery projects in financial services.
• Proven ability to write detailed requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for development teams.
• Working knowledge of SQL and data analysis, modelling, and mapping.
• Solid understanding of APIs, system integrations, and data exchange formats (JSON, XML).
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with developers, architects and QA.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills for non-technical audiences.
• Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence and diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io).
• CBAP or CCBA certification is an asset; cloudPlatform exposure or core banking/payments systems is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements elicitation through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and analysis of current state systems and processes.
• Translate business needs into functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and clear acceptance criteria.
• Create current and future state process flows, data flows, and system context diagrams using BPMN, UML, or similar notation.
• Perform data analysis and source-to-target data mapping to support integrations, migrations, and reporting.
• Define system interfaces, API specifications, and integration requirements with solution architects and developers.
• Maintain and refine the product backlog in Jira and keep requirements, decisions, and business rules current in Confluence.
• Support QA and UAT by tracing requirements to test cases, validating results, and prioritizing defects with stakeholders.
• Ensure requirements reflect regulatory obligations (OSFI, AML/KYC, privacy).
• Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly to technical teams and business stakeholders.

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Technical Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technology delivery teams on client engagements in the financial services sector. You will own the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business and system requirements, translating them into clear specifications that developers, architects, and QA teams can build and test against. Working closely with product owners, solution architects, and engineers, you will help deliver reliable, compliant technology solutions that improve how our banking, payments, and capital markets clients operate. Our Maritimes office is located in Moncton, New Brunswick. This role offers a flexible hybrid arrangement, with occasional in-office days as needed.

• Proven experience writing detailed requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for development teams.
• Working knowledge of SQL and experience with data analysis, data modelling, and data mapping.
• Solid understanding of APIs, system integrations, and data exchange formats such as JSON and XML.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments alongside developers, architects, and QA.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, and diagramming tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or draw.io.
• CBAP or CCBA certification, cloud platform exposure, or experience with core banking or payments systems is an asset.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
