Job summary

Level19 is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to bridge business needs and technology in a fast-paced Agile setting. You will help shape modern financial tech solutions by translating complex requirements into actionable work for product owners, architects, developers, and QA.

You will own the requirements lifecycle, craft user stories and acceptance criteria, and collaborate across teams to ensure delivery excellence while driving continuous improvement and automation opportunities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Senior BSA or IT-focused BA within financial services.
• Proficient in documenting complex requirements and validating them.
• Experience creating workflows and data flow diagrams.
• Strong API and integration pattern knowledge.
• Proficient with Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
• Excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile backlog management and sprint planning.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our team and play a key role in shaping and delivering modern financial technology solutions. In this role, you will act as a strategic liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams ensuring that complex business needs are translated into well-defined, actionable requirements that drive delivery excellence. You will work closely with product owners, architects, developers, and QA teams in a fast-paced, Agile environment to enable the successful delivery of scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead requirements analysis and documentation through well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications
• Own the end-to-end requirements lifecycle from initial discovery through to development handoff and post-deployment validation
• Lead and facilitate stakeholder workshops, interviews, and working sessions to elicit, clarify, and validate business requirements
• Create workflow, data flow, and state diagrams to capture business processes and system interactions
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and technical teams to translate business requirements into actionable technical tasks
• Drive alignment across business and technical stakeholders, proactively challenging assumptions and resolving requirement conflicts
• Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, and prioritization to ensure alignment between business goals and delivery objectives
• Identify project risks, gaps, and dependencies, ensuring proactive communication and resolution
• Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending process enhancements and automation opportunities

Required Expertise

• 10+ years of experience as a Senior Business Systems Analyst or IT-focused Business Analyst, preferably within financial services, banking or payments domain
• Established ability to analyze, document, and validate complex business requirements with strong attention to detail
• Hands-on experience writing workflow, data flow, and state diagrams using standard modeling tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent)
• Ability to interpret and collaborate on architecture diagrams, sequence diagrams, and system interaction maps
• Proficiency with Agile methodologies, including backlog management, sprint planning, and prioritization
• Strong understanding of APIs, integration patterns, and data schemas
• Familiarity with collaboration and project lifecycle management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify gaps and propose effective solutions

Preferred Expertise

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Experience with Canadian payment rails such as Interac, RTR/Real-Time Rail, ISO20022, EFT, or wire payments is a strong asset
• Experience working in a consulting or professional services environment is an asset
• Familiarity with SQL or equivalent query tools to validate data and support analysis
• Relevant certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis), or Agile BA are considered strong assets
