About Our Opportunity

The Web and Content team, part of the Digital Platforms Division, is looking for a Technical Architect to implement technical architecture for our organization's large-scale web presence and manage its successful implementation. This role will design the technical systems of new website platforms, manage the team that implements these designs, and modernize legacy technology, while assuring the smooth running of our enterprise web presence.

You possess a strong understanding of cloud-based web infrastructure, and experience in integrating various systems and data sources. You thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of uncertainty. You are an internet-era servant leader who has strategic leadership experience with a track record of delivery. You understand that collaboration across roles and organizations will be crucial to your success. You act as a bridge between the strategic and technical aspects of the organization and oversee the implementation of web systems.

Primary Responsibilities

As the Technical Architect, reporting to the Web Delivery Manager you will work with a team of developers and collaborate with internal and external partners to create systems that allow us to achieve our government web strategy. You will :

  • Craft the technical architecture for the web channel.
  • Lead the implementation of architecture.
  • Design, develop, and implement web technical solutions.
  • Develop strategic and operational targets through direction, planning, and implementation, and evaluate progress, making changes as necessary.
  • Undertake structured analysis of technical issues, translating this analysis into technical designs that describe a solution.
  • Look for opportunities to collaborate and reuse components, communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Manage a budget and contracts.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience building an enterprise-scale website.
  • Proven track record of architecting and implementing web technology such as web CMS including Drupal and Wordpress.
  • Hands-on experience with containerized or cloud web software and infrastructure, including networking, routing, security, databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and collaborative relationships across various teams and levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate superior communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Able to organize and prioritize work, managing tight deadlines, complex tasks and financial resources to effectively meet strategic goals and maintain budget integrity.
  • Ability to maintain sound judgement and achieve results in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience in leading change, managing risks, and ensuring the achievement of project objectives; effectively managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Decision-making responsibilities in the development and management of high-quality digital products, with a focus on secure service delivery.

Assets

  • Familiarity with agile delivery methods (scrum, Kanban, XP).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices that protect data and privacy.
  • Track record of modernization of aging systems while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices.
