Job description

Technical Applications Engineer (Mechanical/Chemical)
Technical Applications Engineer (Mechanical/Chemical)

Saltworks Technologies, based in Richmond, BC, is a global technology leader in advanced industrial desalination and lithium refining. Our innovative machines produce clean water from high-strength industrial discharges and refine lithium to support the energy transition. We offer meaningful and exciting work in a collaborative environment, driven by innovation and problem-solving. As a fast-growing company shaped by major global trends, we offer exceptional career opportunities.

The Role:

Join our team as a Technical Applications Engineer (Customer Support) and play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional support to our industrial clients. You will take ownership of technical inquiries after project handover, providing timely assistance through email, phone, or remote access to plant HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces). Your support will help customers with system setup, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

In this hands-on role, you will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and senior leaders who are committed to your growth and ready to share their expertise. Along the way, you’ll build deep knowledge of process systems, controls, and industrial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for the technical inquires, providing remote support via email, phone, or HMI access, and ensuring timely, customer-focused resolutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to troubleshoot issues, route complex cases, and deliver effective, well-informed solutions.
  • Develop deep product knowledge to offer accurate, confident guidance and become a trusted resource for clients.
  • Capture and share feedback to contribute to product improvements and drive innovation within the engineering team.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including support guides and procedures that benefit both customers and internal teams.
  • Grow into a subject matter expert, with full support to expand your technical, engineering, and project management skill set.

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Integrated Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of post-graduate experience, with a strong foundation in technical support within industrial environments.
  • Hands-on experience with system diagnostics including hydrostatic, mechanical, electrical, and process control commissioning or field work.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards related to mechanically and electrically energized systems.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a focus on safety and risk awareness.

What you bring to the table:

  • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to prioritize effectively and learn quickly.
  • A proactive mindset, with a commitment to quality, meeting deadlines, and continuous learning.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to take initiative.
  • Bonus: Hands-on tooling and troubleshooting experience is an asset.

Please Note:

This role may involve occasional flexibility in working hours, such as early mornings, late evenings, or weekend shifts, to accommodate customers across various time zones or during critical operations. However, this is not an on-call position, and your schedule will be communicated in advance whenever possible.

Why join Saltworks?

We have an outstanding team that is passionate about innovation and solving key environmental challenges facing our planet.

Join a team pioneering the future of water and lithium. Some of our customers include world-leading electric vehicle makers, semiconductor firms, mining companies, agriculture firms, and more!

  • A diverse and inclusive team that is key to our success.
  • A competitive compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, RRSP matching, life insurance, AD&D coverage, and an education allowance.
  • A culture that supports safety, innovation, learning, diversity, and teamwork.
  • Fun social activities and company events.
