ARAG Legal Solutions Inc., part of the ARAG Group, is a global leader in legal expense insurance operating in 20 countries, offering an innovative and comprehensive range of legal expense products and services for brokers, underwriting agents, and insurers across Canada.

As part of our strategy to expand and strengthen our presence across Canada, we are looking for an energetic and creative individual to join us as a Technical Accountant Assistant in Toronto.

Reporting to the Controller, the Technical Accountant Assistant will support technical accounting functions, including payment allocations, analysis, and reporting for internal management.

What will you do?
  1. Process cash receipts and maintain a log of payments received.
  2. Reconcile balances to client reports and individual items for internal matching and payment allocations.
  3. Communicate with clients and investigate technical statements of accounts.
  4. Develop effective relationships with underwriters and ATE operations for ongoing collaboration.
  5. Review client statistics, including premiums, claims, and commissions.
  6. Verify coverage against claim reimbursements to support general accounting entries into the technical system.
  7. Prepare monthly reconciliation reports and other ad hoc reports.
  8. Collaborate with and support Technical Accounting on an ongoing basis.
  9. Enter data into technical systems as required.
  10. Follow proper Records Management protocols.
  11. Identify and implement continuous process improvements to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
About You
  • University degree or college diploma, with general accounting courses.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred; exposure to insurance is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Windows and MS Office applications, including Office 365.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is desired.
  • Aptitude for figures, with strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective team player and independent worker.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
