Job summary

Medavie in Dartmouth, NS is seeking a Team Lead, Payroll to guide a team of Payroll Administrators and oversee payroll operations across multiple operating companies. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service, with a hybrid work setup based out of the Dartmouth office.

The ideal candidate will have PCP designation, 5-7 years payroll experience, and 1-3 years of leadership, plus strong knowledge of payroll legislation and Excel.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of progressive payroll experience.
  • 1-3 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Experience processing complex payrolls in a multi-company environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

Payroll is at the heart of the employee experience, and we’re looking for a Team Lead, Payroll to help lead our payroll operations with accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service. In this role, you’ll provide leadership to a team of Payroll Administrators, oversee payroll processing across multiple operating companies, and partner with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Benefits, Pension, HRIS, and Operations. You’ll also play a key role in driving process improvements, supporting system enhancements, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

What You’ll Do


  • Lead and coordinate payroll processing activities across multiple companies

What You’ll Bring


  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation

  • 5-7 years of progressive payroll experience

  • 1-3 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience

  • Experience processing complex payrolls in a multi-company environment

  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, reconciliations, and audits

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

  • Excellent communication, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving abilities


Assets


  • PLP (Payroll Leadership Professional) designation

  • Experience with Workday and payroll system integrations

  • Knowledge of collective agreements and multi-provincial payroll

  • Continuous improvement, project, or process optimization experience

  • French language skills

Pay Range:

73,465 - 82,648 CAD


The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
