You will oversee complex payroll processes, year-end activities, and regulatory compliance, while mentoring the payroll team and driving system improvements.
The role emphasizes strong knowledge of multi-provincial payroll, Canada tax rules, and experience with UKG systems, with bilingual English/French as an asset.

The Opportunity:
Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, the Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the overall administration, accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement of payroll operations across Sentrex's multiple legal entities throughout Canada. This role serves as Sentrex's lead payroll subject matter expert and combines hands-on payroll processing responsibilities with oversight of payroll activities, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
The Payroll Supervisor performs and oversees complex payroll functions, reviews and approves payroll transactions, resolves escalated issues, supports audits and year-end activities, and partners closely with Finance, People & Culture, and operational leaders. In addition, this role provides guidance, training, and mentorship to payroll team members, leads payroll-related projects and system enhancements, and drives process improvements that support operational excellence, compliance, and an exceptional employee experience.
This position is primarily remote. The successful candidate must be available to attend occasional onsite meetings, team events, training sessions, planning sessions, and other business-related activities, as required.
A Day in the Life (What you will do here):
Oversee and participate in the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payrolls across Sentrex's multiple legal entities and employee populations throughout Canada.
Perform and audit complex payroll transactions, including salaries, taxable benefits, garnishments, statutory deductions, off-cycle payments, and terminations.
Review and approve payroll outputs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and completeness prior to final submission.
Maintain payroll records and HRIS data, ensuring information is accurate, confidential, and retained in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.
Lead year-end payroll activities, including reconciliations, ROEs, T4s, T4As, T2200s, and other payroll-related reporting requirements.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and provincial payroll, tax, and employment legislation across Canada, including statutory remittances and regulatory requirements.
Partner with Finance on payroll reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, audits, and payroll-related general ledger matters.
Serve as the primary point of contact and escalation resource for payroll inquiries, discrepancies, and complex payroll matters.
Provide day-to-day leadership, training, coaching, and support to Payroll team members, ensuring service excellence and operational effectiveness.
Act as backup to the Payroll Specialist and support payroll continuity during absences or peak periods.
Lead payroll-related projects, system upgrades, testing, process improvements, and HRIS enhancements in collaboration with People & Culture, Finance, IT, and external vendors.
Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, strengthen controls, and enhance efficiency while maintaining compliance and data integrity.
