Job summary

Napoleon Group of Companies is seeking a Team Leader to train and develop leadership skills in a manufacturing environment. This role is a stepping stone toward full Team Leader responsibilities, reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor or Manager, and located at 214 Bayview Drive with evening hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or 4-5 years' relevant work experience in English and Math
• Post-secondary education is an asset
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
• Preference for candidates with leadership experience
• Willingness to learn new computer programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) and MRP systems
• Must demonstrate ability to lead and teach others

Responsibilities

• Shadow Team Leaders to observe and help solve department issues and implement solutions
• Assist manufacturing leadership to remove production roadblocks
• Learn and follow company policies, ISO, government legislation (OHSA, ESA, Human Rights Code)
• Attend training sessions as required
• Apply LEAN principles, including 5S methodology
• Learn to use HRIS to track attendance, overtime, absences, and time off

Title: Team Leader

Reports to: Manufacturing Supervisor or Manager

Location: 214 Bayview Drive

Hours: 2:45p.m. to 10:45p.m

Job Purpose

To train and develop leadership skills and specific skills required in the performance of a Team Leader in a manufacturing or logistics role. This is a temporary classification for Associates preparing for a role as Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Job shadow Team Leaders; Observe and assist in problem solving departmental issues and then implementing the appropriate solution
• Observe and assist the Manufacturing leadership in eliminating road blocks to production
• Study to understand and comply with company policies and procedures, ISO and all Government legislation including the Human Rights Code, OHSA and ESA.
• Attend training sessions as required.
• Understand and apply LEAN principles, including 5S Methodology.
• Learn and use HRIS to track attendance, (O/T, absence, time offs).

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma, OR 4 - 5 years' relevant work experience with minimum literacy in English and Math confirmed
• Post-secondary education is considered an asset.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
• Preference given to candidates with previous leadership experience
• Willing and able to learn to learn computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, as well as Visual Manufacturing or another type of MRP system
• Must have a willingness to learn new skills and methods.
• Must be able to demonstrate that they have the ability to lead a team.
• Must show that they have the ability to teach others

Specialized Skills for Fabrication Leaders:

• Blueprint Comprehension – Part orientation, inside outside measurements, reference vs critical
• Material Identification – Gauges, Finishes, Types (hot rolled, cold rolled, stainless steel, aluminized, galvanneal, aluminum)
• Use and Read Measuring Tools (tapes, calipers, protractors, fixtures, go/no-go gauges)
• Tooling Understanding – punches and clearances, forming tools (90’s, 30’s, radius)
• Basic Machine Understanding – limits and capabilities of Turret punches, brake presses (eg. radius forms are better in Allsteels, proper utilization of off cuts for lasers, pega’s)
