Job summary

Durabuilt Windows & Doors is a Western Canada based manufacturing leader seeking a Shipping and Logistics Supervisor to oversee shipping operations and lead a dedicated team in a fast-paced environment.

You will coordinate daily shipments, verify orders, ensure safety and efficiency, and drive continuous improvement through LEAN practices and strong communication with drivers and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, especially trucking.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Experience with manufacturing or construction industry.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and a varied workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in shipping activities and verify against POs.
  • Plan daily workload to meet shipping schedules and customer requirements.
  • Address backorder issues and driver issues.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized warehouse and follow SOPs.
  • Support LEAN production and 6S standards; improve productivity.
  • Resolve complaints promptly; coordinate with internal teams as needed.
  • Communicate and comply with company policies; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

Shipping 70%

  • Oversee and participate in shipping activities to ensure smooth operations and verify against PO’s.
  • Assist in planning daily workload to meet objectives of daily shipping schedule, including customer’s specific instructions and/or requirements.
  • Address backorder issues.
  • Address issues raised by drivers.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized warehouse and working areas.
  • Ensure standards are maintained and best practices utilized to avoid any damage to the product while in transit to customer site.
  • Comply with safe operating procedures, safekeeping of materials and property, security, and record-keeping.
  • Maintain efficient flow of shipping product to support LEAN production and 6S Standards.
  • Resolve complaints or concerns in a timely and diplomatic manner.
  • Follow up on work and projects to measure progress and address issues immediately.
  • Communicate and comply with company, department and safety program policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership 30%
  • Ensure department is appropriately staffed through planning and scheduling per budget and customer orders.
  • Analyze work orders and monitor labor hours.
  • Supervise and assist team members in daily departmental operations to meet established productivity goals.
  • Monitor and improve the productivity of the department through leadership, motivation and team building.
  • Encourage a culture that values safety, speed, and accuracy through training, supervision, coaching and performance management.
  • Set achievable, measurable, and challenging goals for all associates
  • Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Solution focused and comfortable working in an environment which demands robust deliverables.
  • Identify problems and execute appropriate solutions.
  • Comfortable with high volume workload with the ability to “roll up your sleeves” and jump in.
  • High comfort level working in a fast-paced team environment that is constantly changing.

  • Ability to manage shipping operations effectively.

  • Maintain records and documentation pertaining to work force.
Experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in logistics especially in the Trucking Industry.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Dispatch experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Manufacturing or Construction industry.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and a varied workforce.
Working conditions
  • Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 0 lbs to 50 lbs.
  • Work in a production facility and in an office located in the Receiving area.
  • Repetitive movements and work.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping on a regular basis.
  • Walking near to heavy tool and moving machinery.
  • Exposure to all types of weather conditions, and dirt, dust and noise.
  • Flexibility in scheduling depending on production demands – able to work day &/or evening shift.
  • Opportunity for overtime on short notice due to operational needs.
