The Team Lead will be responsible for day-to-day management of their team including engaging across departments to embed digital-first practices, processes and tools. They will support the management of the end-to-end customer value lifecycle in a consistent, collaborative, lean, agile and strategic manner, applying digital and technology to the products and services they support to improve the user experience and delivery of value to patients/customers. They are responsible for supporting the Manager / Senior Manager in delivering one or more project/program/operational plans within a specific portfolio or functional area. As part of this role, the Team Lead acts as the lead support to the Manager in developing plans and deliverables, supervising resources, vendors and interacting with key internal and/or external stakeholders. The Team Lead may act on the Manager’s behalf in their absence.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Manages a functional team for 2-7 individuals fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and agility.
  • Provides full scope of leadership responsibilities to a multifunctional team, including recruitment, setting/measuring performance outcomes, career development/counseling, approval of leadership and training opportunities, and performance management including effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and performance management with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary.
  • Fosters a culture of engagement and high-performing teams that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision, organizational mission, vision, guiding principles, values, strategies and managing career or skill development planning for the team.
  • Empowers staff to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Identifies and creates learning opportunities for their staff to continually enhance their functional area of knowledge. Delegates responsibility and expects accountability and regular feedback.
  • Understands and discusses technical concepts, manages trade-offs, and evaluates opportunistic innovative ideas with internal and external partners.
  • Bridges the gap between strategy and execution through road-mapping, setting up processes, models and metrics that facilitate collaboration between key partners and the achievement of set targets.
  • Champions the portfolio's vision to re-imagine OH’s digital and virtual assets to create a better, more connected healthcare system, along with evolving and encouraging a citizen-centered, digital-first mindset within their teams.
  • Ensures business partners and stakeholders have visibility to the value their teams provide.
  • Provides technical expertise in the functional area.
  • Leads by example, demonstrating integrity, creativity, and enthusiasm in achieving results directly.
  • Supports other Managers as required and performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
  • Builds strong relationships across portfolios and with a diverse set of health system stakeholders and partners.
  • Directs, trains, mentors, and coaches transformation, customer value and product/service team members and functional experts to grow capabilities and key skills.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on the use of digital and technology, as well as assisting with planning for long-term cost-effective sustainability.
  • Provides excellent service to internal and external clients by discovering and meeting their needs and building and maintaining positive and effective working relationships.
  • Establishes and maintains trusted working relationships with cross-functional areas within Digital Excellence in Health and across Ontario Health, as well as vendor partners to ensure appropriate planning and support requirements are identified and managed ensuring service level targets are achieved.
  • Effectively partners with Ontario Health clinical portfolios to ensure program strategies and plans are reflected in technical product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Supports the development of the annual planning process in collaboration with program partners, DXH colleagues and the ministry.
  • Contributes to the development of product strategies in collaboration with program partners and DxH colleagues and the development of roadmaps and the corresponding operational plan for products within the department.
  • Contributes to thought leadership on capturing the tactical and strategic enterprise goals through business models (including vision, goals, objectives, mission, tactics, roadmaps, plans, capability maps, value stream maps) that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance.
  • Ensures periodic reviews to ensure the products meet OH standards and practices.
  • Ensures privacy and security is embedded at every phase of the SDLC enabling development of secure products.
  • Anticipates and remediates project bottlenecks and blockers in short term and long-term work to ensure smooth operation of their team.
  • Acts independently with a low level of supervision. Possesses the ability to determine when to escalate broader impacting decisions to senior management.
  • Collaborates with external stakeholders and government agencies with supervision.
  • Makes decisions where results have a critical impact across the organization requiring sophisticated solutions and long-term correction.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health-related fields, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT security principles, practices, technologies, programs and procedures.
  • Knowledge of prevalent industry standards (ISO 27001/27002, NIST, CIS, Cobit).
  • Certifications in cyber security (e.g. CISSP or CISA) are nice to have.
  • Excellent knowledge in the functional area of responsibility (engineering, security, product management, etc).
  • Excellent Knowledge of project delivery practices in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent Knowledge of SDLC.
  • Experience with healthcare integration projects is an asset.
  • Knowledge of user centric design and innovation.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects from initiation to completion.
  • Experience of familiarity with Cloud-Based technologies.
  • An understanding of risk assessment methodologies such as HTRA and CSF, and frameworks such as ISO 27001/2 and NIST.
  • Knowledge and experience developing and working with security architecture, and IT management frameworks such as SABSA, and CoBIT.
  • Strong understanding and ability to interpret and communicate risk management concepts.
  • Working knowledge of TRA methodologies and other risk assessment methodologies and tools, and familiarity with related security tests and test methodologies.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of information systems and security technologies including Operating Systems security, LAN and WAN, Internet protocols and applications, secure communications, firewalls, IDS/IPS, PKI, identity management, identification and authentication techniques, role-based access control, malware defenses, etc.
  • Understanding of typical security threats, vulnerabilities and safeguards relevant to application development, test and QA environments, and IT (datacenter) operations.
  • Experience in writing and presenting subject matter information that is both comprehensive and easy to understand.
