You will drive leadership development, governance, and continuous improvement, collaborating with the Director of Operations and business leaders. This hybrid role requires seasoned engineering leadership and strong stakeholder management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • P.Eng. designation or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of engineering, project delivery or engineering management experience.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong governance, risk management, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bilingual English/French preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to Engineering Managers.

Job description

Job Description Overview AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Team Lead, Engineering Management to join the Engineering Management Office (EMO). In this role, you will provide leadership, guidance, and coordination for a growing team of approximately 20 Engineering Managers who are assigned across a diverse portfolio of projects. As a functional leader within the Centre of Excellence, you will be responsible for promoting excellence in engineering management practices, supporting team development, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring consistent application of processes, tools, and governance requirements. Working closely with the Director of Operations and other business leaders, you will help strengthen organizational capability while supporting successful project delivery across the business.

Team Leadership & People Development:

Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Engineering Managers assigned to projects. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment that promotes accountability and continuous improvement. Support employee development through coaching, performance feedback, career planning, and succession planning activities. Identify development opportunities and facilitate training, knowledge sharing, and best practice adoption across the Engineering Management community. Support recruitment, onboarding, and resource development activities.

Engineering Management Practice Leadership:

Promote consistent application of engineering management processes, procedures, tools, and standards across projects. Serve as the primary point of contact for Engineering Managers seeking guidance on project execution, governance, stakeholder management, and engineering delivery challenges. Facilitate lessons learned, knowledge management activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to the development and maintenance of engineering management frameworks, templates, and best practices.

Operational Excellence & Governance:

Support implementation of corporate, sector, and business unit initiatives within the Engineering Management function. Monitor compliance with engineering management governance requirements, quality processes, and project delivery standards. Identify process improvement opportunities and lead initiatives that enhance efficiency, consistency, and project outcomes. Remove barriers and expel issues that may affect team effectiveness or project performance.

Resource & Workforce Management:

Assist with resource planning and workforce forecasting for Engineering Managers across the portfolio. Support assignment of Engineering Managers based on project requirements, skills, experience, and development objectives. Monitor workload balancing and capacity utilization to ensure effective deployment of resources. Identify capability gaps and support hiring plans to address current and future business needs.

Project Delivery Support:

Provide advisory support to Engineering Managers on complex project issues, risks, stakeholder management and project execution strategies. Monitor the overall health and effectiveness of engineering management activities across the project portfolio. Support implementation of project delivery best practices and consistent approaches to planning, monitoring, reporting and risk management. Collaborate with Project Directors, Project Managers, and Discipline Leaders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Business & Strategic Initiatives:

Lead and support strategic initiatives that enhance the Engineering Management practice and overall project delivery capability. Represent the Engineering Management function within leadership forums, working groups, and cross-functional initiatives. Support business planning, organizational development and change management efforts. Champion innovation, digital tools and operational improvement initiatives across the organization.

Establishes a high-performing Engineering Management community. Promotes consistency and excellence in engineering management practices. Develops and mentors Engineering Managers to achieve their full potential. Successfully implements corporate and operational improvement initiatives. Supports effective resource utilization and workforce planning. Enhances project delivery performance through collaboration, coaching, and governance leadership.

About you

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent professional accreditation preferred. PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials are considered an asset. Minimum 15 years of engineering, project delivery or engineering management experience. Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing technical professionals. Significant experience serving as an Engineering Manager on complex projects. Strong understanding of engineering project delivery governance processes, risk management and organisational best practices. Exceptional leadership, communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability influence to build consensus and drive organization change. Strong problem-solving, decision-making and striking thought ability. Bilingual (English/French) preferred.
