McGill University in Montreal invites applications for Teaching Assistant positions in the Management of Partial Edentulism course (DENT 246). TAs will support lab sessions, supervise RPD classification, fabrication of record bases and custom trays, and assist with design and surveying of Kennedy Class I-IV dentures.

Qualified candidates hold a DDS/DMD or foreign equivalent and are enrolled in an MSc/PhD program in Dentistry or a related field.

Qualifications

• Must be registered in MSc or PhD program in Dentistry or related field.

Job Description

• Teaching and Mentorship - TAs should have a strong general knowledge of removable partial dentures (RPDs), including RPD classification, components, surveying, design principles, biomechanics, and clinical and laboratory procedures.
• TAs will provide active hands-on support during laboratory sessions, including RPD classification exercises, fabrication of record bases and custom trays, RPD surveying, design of Kennedy Class I-IV RPDs and laboratory prescriptions, and tooth preparation for RPDs.
• Duties include demonstrating and reinforcing laboratory techniques, guiding students through exercises, troubleshooting technical difficulties, providing feedback, and ensuring appropriate use of materials and equipment.
• TAs will also assist with the evaluation of students’ laboratory work according to the assessment criteria and evaluation sheets provided by the course director.

Qualifications required

• Hold a DDS, DMD, or foreign equivalent.
• Sound knowledge of removable partial dentures and proficiency in the clinical and laboratory techniques required for RPD design and fabrication.
