Job summary

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) invites applicants to join as a Teacher for Automobile Mechanics in Kangiqsujuaq. The role is a contractual 400-hour position from August to December 2026, with a possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities include teaching maintenance, diagnostics, and major automotive systems within the Adult Education and Vocational Training department. The ideal candidate will have experience in adult education, multi-level classes, and familiarity with MEES programs.

Qualifications

• Fluency in two of the KI official languages (Inuktitut, English, French).
• Experience in adult education.
• Experience teaching multi-level classes.

Responsibilities

• Teach automotive maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Develop diagnostic capabilities and identify/fix problems.
• Cover major automotive systems: Powertrains, Brakes, Engines, Electrical and Metrology.

SALARY:FROM $54,119 TO $105,432 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

DURATION:AUGUST TO DECEMBER 2026 (WITH A POSSIBILITY OF RENEWAL)

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.

LESSONS TAUGHT:

• Maintenance and mechanical repairs to any part of the motor vehicle
• Develop diagnostic capabilities and understand how to identify and fix problems
• Major automotive systems including Power Trains, Brakes, Internal Combustion Engines, Electricity and Supply Systems, and Metrology.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board

REQUIREMENTS:

• Fluency in two (2) of the three (3) official languages of KI (Inuktitut, English and French);
• Experience in adult education, and;
• Experience in multi-level classes.

ASSETS:

• Knowledge and teaching of the MEES programs.
• Experience in teaching English and French as a second language.
• Knowledge of the Moodle platform.

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

Salary & benefits as per the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board: from $54,119 to $105,432 annually depending on experience and qualifications. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
