Job summary

Rural Roads Health Services (RRHS) is actively seeking applicants for a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. Key duties include specimen collection, labeling, referral, phlebotomy and ECG procedures, plus related clerical tasks.

Qualified candidates will have OMST certification, a relevant college program, and at least two years of hospital phlebotomy experience, with strong communication and patient care skills.

Qualifications

• Completed post-secondary course at an officially recognized community college or technical institution related to phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Assistant Program.
• Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (OMST) required.
• 2 years' experience in phlebotomy in a hospital environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to deescalate and provide a positive patient experience.
• Solid technical skills for phlebotomy and ECG collection, including preparation and processing of specimens and patient documentation.
• Knowledge of ECG billing in Cerner and MUSE application.
• Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable.

Rural Roads Health Services (RRHS) is actively seeking applicants for a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) position in our Laboratory. The primary location for this position is: Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Required to collect, prepare, label and refer laboratory specimens;


• Perform phlebotomy and ECG procedures;


• Clerical duties as applicable.

Other Pertinent Conditions

• As per the OPSEU Salary Grid ($32.59 per hour to $37.26 per hour)
