Job summary

CI Financial Corp. is seeking a Tax Specialist to join the Tax Operations team in Canada. You will review year-end tax files/slips, validate data, reconcile tax withholdings, and ensure accurate slips are issued to clients and remitted to CRA/MRQ.

The role requires at least 2 years in tax reporting, familiarity with CRA and MRQ slips, and strong Excel skills. The position offers in-office work four days a week with a base salary range of $42,500–$71,000 plus bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Tax function and/or client tax reporting.
  • Familiar with CRA and MRQ tax slips.
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Review, research, and analyze year-end tax files/slips for accuracy and completeness.
  • Handle tax slips such as T3, T5, T5008, T5013, RL2, RL3, RL15, RL16, RL18, NR4, T4RSP, T4RIF, T4FHSA, and other customized statements.
  • Perform validations for financial and non-financial data.
  • Monthly reconciliation and review of Canadian tax withholding and remittance.
  • Collaborate with the tax team to ensure accurate tax slips are distributed to clients and remitted to Tax Authorities (CRA/MRQ).
  • Escalate and address discrepancies in client data files; support mail-outs, slip amendments, and client inquiries.

You will play an integral part in assisting with the client’s year-end tax reporting requirements under Canadian Tax Authorities. CI Investment Services Inc. WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Responsible for reviewing, researching, and analyzing year-end tax files/slips for accuracy and completeness.
  • Tax slips include T3, T5, T5008, T5013, RL2, RL3, RL15, RL16, RL18, NR4, T4RSP, T4RIF, T4FHSA, and other customized statements.
  • Perform validations for financial and non-financial data.
  • Monthly reconciliation and review of Canadian tax withholding and remittance.
  • Work closely with the rest of the tax team to ensure complete and accurate tax slips are distributed to clients and remitted to relevant Tax Authorities (CRA and MRQ).
  • Ensure all findings or discrepancies in client data files are escalated, documented, and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Support the Tax team in tax package mail outs, slip amendment process, and answering client tax inquiries.
  • Complete various ad-hoc duties & projects as required.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Tax function and/or client tax reporting
  • Completion of a post-secondary program
  • Familiar with various CRA and MRQ tax slips
  • Intermediate/Advance Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel
  • Strong reconciliation skills
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Knowledge of the broker-dealer industry an asset
  • Knowledge of FATCA, CRS, and QI tax regimes an asset
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
WORKING CONDITIONS

Overtime may be required during peak periods of the tax season (Jan-Apr). This role follows our in‑office work model and requires employees to be onsite four days per week to support collaboration and business needs. This opportunity is for an existing vacancy with the company.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $42,500 to $71,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a bonus program.
