Qualifications

  • CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting designation.
  • Completion of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course.
  • 3–5+ years of progressive, full-time tax experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
  • High level of confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including CaseWare, TaxPrep, Sage, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and prepare corporate reorganizations and advanced tax planning initiatives.
  • Support succession and estate planning engagements.
  • Assist with tax audits, reviews, assessments, voluntary disclosures, and notices of objection.
  • Conduct tax research and respond to complex tax inquiries.
  • Manage a variety of complex tax engagements, including corporate tax returns, personal tax returns, and trust returns.
  • Provide technical tax guidance and mentorship to internal team members.
  • Collaborate closely with senior partners on strategic and advisory tax matters.

Job description

We are partnering with a well-established and highly respected professional accounting firm based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, serving clients across PEI and Atlantic Canada. The firm is part of a strong regional alliance of independent CPA firms, providing enhanced collaboration, shared expertise, and professional support.

Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its high-performing team. This role works closely with senior leadership and plays a key role in delivering tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and prepare corporate reorganizations and advanced tax planning initiatives

Support succession and estate planning engagements

Assist with tax audits, reviews, assessments, voluntary disclosures, and notices of objection

Conduct tax research and respond to complex tax inquiries

Manage a variety of complex tax engagements, including:

Corporate tax returns

Personal tax returns

Trust returns

Provide technical tax guidance and mentorship to internal team members

Collaborate closely with senior partners on strategic and advisory tax matters

Qualifications & Experience

CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting designation

Completion of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course

3–5+ years of progressive, full-time tax experience

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
