What we seek:
OCH is seeking a dedicated Talent Acquisition Specialist, who will serve as the subject-matter expert in internal and external recruitment best practices. Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Total Rewards and HR Programs, the Specialist will be responsible for strengthening OCH’s employer brand and ensuring that all applicants have a positive candidate experience.
Talent Acquisition Specialist with OCHC:
The Specialist will develop and implement effective and innovative recruitment strategies in partnership with hiring managers to proactively source, recruit and hire high quality candidates. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will leverage modern and innovative technologies, initiatives and concepts to convey OCH’s employer brand in an engaging way and develop sourcing strategies to meet current and future hiring needs.
As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, some of the things you will do include:
- Leads OCH’s talent acquisition efforts and supports the organization in proactively sourcing high quality candidates.
- Develops and implements modern and innovative corporate programs and initiatives aimed at attracting, retaining and engaging qualified applicants with diverse backgrounds
- Manages OCH’s career page, ensuring that it is up to date and reflects OCH’s employer brand and employee value proposition to better attract prospective candidates
- Seeks new innovative partnerships and enhances newly formed partnerships to attract and retain a skilled, qualified and diverse workforce.
- Works with identified academic and community partners to secure a talent pipeline for critical position
- Collaborates with hiring managers in the development and creation of job postings for vacant positions
- Provides guidance and support with the pre-screening and assessment of applicants and presents qualified candidates to the hiring manager
- Works with hiring managers and interview panelists to schedule, interview and gather timely feedback on candidates
- Provides guidance to hiring managers on recruitment best practices in alignment with OCH’s Hiring Policy
- Maintain regular contact with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
- Provides guidance and support in the effective onboarding of new employees
- Provides guidance and assistance in candidate background checking
- Assists in the management of recruiting vendor relationships
- Leads the development of ongoing improvements of the recruitment process by utilizing data gathered by tracking and analyzing recruitment metrics
- Provides timely reporting on recruitment efforts and analytics to the Director, including open positions status, quality of hires, time to fill, etc.
- Develops and leads various employer branding initiatives to help promote OCH as an employer of choice
- Identifies, organizes and participates in employment events such as career fairs and trade shows
- Develops programs to grow OCH’s employer brand that leverages social media, career sites, networks, and professional sites in order for OCH to compete for talent in the labour market
- Develops employer branding content for careers oriented pages on sites including LinkedIn and OCH’s Website
- Works in collaboration with the Communications team to create recruitment branding materials external candidate outreach
- Manages and drives continuous Human Resources content in all communication channels (SharePoint, Corporate Website, Social Media, etc.) both internally and externally
- Supports effective communication of OCH’s brand internally and externally
- Acts as a representative for OCH with academic and community partners, as required
- Promptly reports all workplace accidents or incidents and unusual or dangerous work conditions
- Represents OCH in a professional manner and treats all work-related contacts with respect and courtesy
- Works in collaboration with other staff in a team approach to service delivery
- Works in alignment with OCH vision, mission, values, interests, plans and objectives
- Performs work in accordance with applicable health, safety and privacy legislation, policies and procedures, and all other legislation, policies and procedures relevant to area of work
- Assist the Human Resources Team with various Human Resources led initiatives as required

What you bring:
Education & Experience:
A typical candidate will have the following qualifications and experience. Exceptional candidates with different qualifications will be considered at the discretion of the employer if demonstrated experience, knowledge, and ability warrant.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in talent acquisition, employer branding, marketing and / or communication in a unionized environment
- Experience with HR and HR-related communication is an advantage
- Experience with social media, preferably from an employer branding perspective
- Hands on experience with Applicant Tracking System (e.g. Taleo)
- Excellent understanding of full cycle recruitment processes and continuously looking for opportunities to improve, innovate and leverage best practices
- Knowledge about social media, especially LinkedIn
- Experience with candidate sourcing, cold calling, social media networking and proactive relationship building skills
- Demonstrated interviewing skillset using structured interview processes and situational/behavioural interviewing techniques
- Strong understanding of branding to have the capacity to sell the company as an employer of choice to prospective hires
- Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of the mandate and values of OCH
- Knowledge of board governance practices and procedures
- Knowledge of records management principles and techniques
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, database applications and other standard corporate software
- Understanding of the values, vision and mission of Ottawa Community Housing and a commitment to support those objectives
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and responsibilities of workers
- Must be familiar with all applicable statutory requirements, policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to area of work
