GardaWorld is seeking a Tactical Security Guard in Nova Scotia for full- or part-time roles. You will read environments, identify risks, anticipate situations, and respond appropriately across retail, airports, and other sites.

The role emphasizes active patrolling, access control, and collaboration with authorities. The position requires physical readiness, a valid Driver's Licence, and eligibility to obtain security credentials.

Qualifications

• Must have valid or eligible Advanced First Aid certification.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Eligible to obtain a Valid Security Guard Licence.

Responsibilities

• Patrol critical areas and remain alert for suspicious activity.
• Control access to secure areas and verify identification.
• Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the site.
• Respond promptly to security incidents, threats and alarms.
• Monitor alarms and cameras and report issues.
• Document incidents and actions taken clearly.
• Use de-escalation techniques in challenging situations.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services when needed.

As a Tactical Security Guard, physical ability is an important part of the position. You will be active throughout your shift and may be required to conduct regular patrols in a variety of environments, including retail stores, airports, security facilities, and other assigned sites.

Responsibilities for Security Guard

• Patrol critical areas and remain alert for suspicious or unauthorized activity
• Control access to secure areas and verify identification as required
• Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the assigned site
• Respond promptly to security incidents, threats, and alarms
• Monitor alarms and security systems, including cameras, and report any issues
• Conduct on-site checks following alarm activations or security concerns
• Document incidents and actions taken through clear and accurate report writing
• Use conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques when dealing with challenging situations
• Work with law enforcement and emergency services during serious incidents when required
• Maintain a professional security presence and follow all site-specific procedures and protocols

Qualifications for Security Guard

Valid or Able to get Advanced First Aid certification

Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence

Authorized to work in Canada

• Able to get a Valid Security Guard Licence

Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift

Ability to safely walk over uneven and rough terrain, including gravel trails and open-pit slopes

Strong de-escalation and conflict-resolution skills

Strong report-writing and communication skills
