RTS is seeking a talented full-time, permanent Control Systems Programmer with at least 5 years of proven experience in executing Industrial, electrical utility, and municipal water/wastewater control software automation projects.

The role includes programming and deploying PLC/SCADA/Historians and working with emerging technologies such as MQTT, IIOT, shopfloor networks, MES, etc. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in developing advanced PLC control logic and SCADA applications with Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, and GE technology.

Main Responsibilities:

• Write new system application PLC/SCADA program code according to prescribed specifications and control narratives, adhering to customer standards and requirements.
• Develop, implement, test, and deploy SCADA programming, databases, and graphic screens using relevant software (Proficy iFix, Rockwell Factory View, Wonderware, WinCC, Ignition).
• Create FAT/SAT documentation and execute FAT/SAT procedures for projects as per specifications.
• Experience with SEL programmable controllers, particularly SEL-2240 RTAC and SEL-2440 DPAC, as well as protection relays (Alstom, Schneider, GE), is considered an asset.
• Analyze program performance and take corrective actions or improve system operational effectiveness based on end-user consultations.
• Consult with users to understand needed changes or modifications, maintaining an “out of scope” log to capture project extras.
• Maintain programming and project documentation.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior programming resources.
• Estimate programming efforts for new projects by reviewing project contract documents.

Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of electrical utilities, municipal water and wastewater processes, and industrial manufacturing automation controls.
• Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, process, & instrumentation drawings, and control system specifications.
• Knowledge of CSA/UL/CE standards is an asset.
• Proficient in English communication skills (written and spoken).
• Advanced skills in MS Office software.
• Strong negotiation, communication, teamwork, planning, organizing, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
