Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Waterdown, Ontario, is seeking a Systems Engineering Co-op for a 16‑month term beginning May 2027. You will collaborate with engineers across departments to support projects and evaluate ruggedized Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).

Strong communication, attention to detail, and drafting of test procedures and documentation are essential. Enrolment in a Bachelor’s or advanced Engineering/Science program is required; CGP clearance may be needed.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Engineering or Science program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform functional tests and document results.
• Familiarity with LRUs and ruggedized equipment is a plus.

As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. About The Role

You will have the opportunity to engage with engineers from various departments. Your primary task will be to support systems solutions projects/programs and evaluation of ruggedized Line Replaceable Units (LRU). This role requires someone with an outgoing personality, strong communications skills and attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform functional tests on products in a laboratory environment
• Create, update and manage software testing utilities used to verify and validate system level functionality
• Generate and revise systems engineering documentation, such as specifications, interface control documents, statements of work, schematics using our change control process
• Develop, document and execute detailed test procedures for hardware and software functionality
• Write thorough reports documenting the results of those tests as well as those performed by others
• Organize, coordinate and track compliance status of requirement verification activities
• Occasionally use electronic equipment such as digital oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.
• Support Bids & Proposals activities with technical queries and compliance matrices

Required Capabilities

• Excellent report writing skills
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications
• Knowledge and experience with programming languages, for example C, C++, C#
• Knowledge about software interface and communication protocols
• Ability to work with many engineers to coordinate interdepartmental efforts
• Good understanding of both Mechanical and Electrical aspects of Engineering
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems, optic or laser devices is an asset but not required
• Able to problem solve and make consistent progress on tasks independently

Desired Education And Experiences

• Enrollment in a Bachelors or Advanced degree in Engineering or Science program
• Must be able to complete a 16 month Co-Op term starting May 2027
• Currently enrolled and in good standing with co-op program through accredited university
• Able to obtain Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance
