As a Systems Designer / Engineer - Nuclear, you will be responsible for learning technical aspects of projects and overseeing systems engineering activities specific to each project. You will collaborate with customers, project managers, and design, assembly, and software teams to develop solutions that meet customer requirements. This role offers opportunities to grow into a technical leader by:
- Understanding customer technology and becoming a subject matter expert
- Providing technical clarity through system requirements and validation
- Leading the system from design to launch, ensuring technical requirements are met
You will support technical execution, contribute to risk mitigation, and drive improvements in quality, cost, and delivery.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Subject Matter Expertise
- Learn the customer process and become the local expert to support design, integration, and verification.
- Prepare analysis and calculations including structural integrity, pressure, flow, heat transfer, and compliance with standards.
- Assist in preparing technical documents such as FMEAs, Safety Risk Assessments, ALARA reports, and manuals.
Requirements Definition and Verification
- Document design requirements and specifications.
- Understand and implement customer and industry requirements, including codes and standards.
- Prepare vendor specifications and coordinate acceptance testing and buy-off.
- Plan for verification of all design requirements using tools like Verification Matrices.
- Lead or support verification activities including analysis and testing.
Project Technical Leadership
- Support or lead design planning and activities.
- Participate in problem-solving, design reviews, and risk mitigation activities.
- Manage technical risks and work with third-party vendors to ensure compliance and adherence to schedules and budgets.
Additional Responsibilities :
- Assist in product improvements and innovations.
- Support development of solutions for technical problems.
- Coordinate technical information within the company and with clients.
- Participate in customer meetings and resolve issues.
- Follow applicable standards and contribute to process improvements.
- Support development of design concepts and labor estimates.
- Ensure compliance with quality requirements and work in radioactive environments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
- Post-secondary degree in relevant engineering fields or equivalent.
Experience :
- Understanding of machine design and problem solving.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, controls, or systems engineering, especially in automation or nuclear tooling, is an asset.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
