Job Overview

The Systems Analyst, Clinical Solutions, reports to the Manager or designate and works independently within a multi-site healthcare environment. The role involves developing and maintaining complex clinical application systems impacting various functional areas throughout VPPL. Key skills include SQL, clinical information systems, EMR applications, and MS Office tools. The analyst provides technical direction, supports system upgrades, troubleshooting, documentation, and the entire system development lifecycle from planning to maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct feasibility studies and analyze existing systems to identify improvements or new solutions.
  2. Develop technical specifications, system requirements, and documentation including flowcharts and implementation plans.
  3. Implement system changes, perform maintenance, and support upgrades following departmental standards and change control processes.
  4. Assist in system design, build activities, and perform modifications using tools such as Visual Studio, Powerhouse, Oracle Developer, PowerBuilder, Crystal Reports, SQL, and ServiceNow.
  5. Monitor system performance, document metrics, and liaise with vendors and users for capacity planning.
  6. Support testing, data conversion, issue resolution, and go-live activities.
  7. Create and maintain operational documentation and participate in procurement and evaluation processes.
  8. Assist in disaster recovery planning and provide after-hours incident support as needed.
  9. Collaborate with stakeholders, develop relationships, and document service agreements.
  10. Provide training to staff, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system use.
  11. Participate in team meetings, quality improvement activities, and stay current with policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science or Health Information Science with at least 3 years of related experience, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Oracle Health/Cerner applications is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous health contexts, anti-racism, and cultural safety is required, along with a commitment to equity and systemic change.

Additional Information

Position details include: Temporary, Full-Time, $46.22/hour, located at 1885 W Broadway, Vancouver, BC. Closing date: May 23, 2025. Hours: 0800-1600, Monday to Friday, with potential on-call duties.
