System Specialist (Field Technician Building Automation Systems - Solutions) - Sydney, Nova Scotia

Join Siemens as a System Specialist (Field Technician Building Automation Systems - Solutions) in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

About the Role

As a Senior System Specialist, you will perform project start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting tasks for Building Automation System (BAS) projects. You will guide contractors and subcontractors, act as the external liaison with customers, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. This is a field position working at commercial, industrial, and institutional sites. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a Senior Building Automation System Specialist.

Responsibilities
  • Perform wiring checkout, system start-ups, programming, and commissioning using provided tools.
  • Create graphics, manage databases, and complete calibration and commissioning reports.
  • Follow project schedules and communicate project status regularly.
  • Participate in final site walks and system handovers.
  • Complete all closeout documentation per policies, including RMA and warranty work.
  • Conduct on-site or branch training for customers.
  • Provide technical support and coaching to end users and technicians.
Qualifications
  • Three years of college or technical training in electrical, mechanical, or control engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Automation Systems or Building Automation Systems; less experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of BAS programming: scripted text and/or function blocks.
  • Experience with equipment start-ups, commissioning, and functional verification.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols: BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP, MSTP.
  • Understanding of building systems and standards.
  • Proactive, calm under pressure, with diagnostic skills.
  • Self-motivated, technically aware, and IT proficient (MS Office).
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Assets include knowledge of mechanical systems, building codes, and Siemens BAS systems.
