Your role and responsibilities

The quality and innovation of the engineering of our products, systems, and services keep our customers at the forefront. Developing solutions for our clients worldwide and working on our market-leading technologies will stimulate and enrich your work and mind. ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Québec is a world leader in spectroscopy, specializing in space optical sensors used for greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and weather forecasting. Our plant is known for its expertise in developing and manufacturing products that meet industrial analysis needs daily. By joining our engineering team, you will oversee and guide the development of instruments in the space and defense (SDS) domain, ensuring their successful and timely delivery within budget and in compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal engineer or scientist has strong reasoning skills, is autonomous, works well in multidisciplinary teams, and has R&D experience in system conception and analysis for space instruments.

  • Interact with project managers and clients to understand and iterate on their needs.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for clients, maintaining trust throughout project phases.
  • Set and manage system and subsystem requirements, model systems, establish technical budgets, and oversee system conformity and risks.
  • Collaborate with project teams using Agile methodology to follow up on actions and plan schedules.
  • Work with Test and Integration teams on test plans and validation strategies.
  • Participate in peer reviews and deliver presentations to clients in French and English.
  • Estimate effort for goals and plan new projects.
  • Develop and improve systems engineering tools, including Model-based Systems Engineering.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with at least 12 years of experience in System Engineering for infrared optical instrumentation for space or remote sensing.
  • Results-, teamwork-, and client-oriented.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to produce clear project documentation.
  • Experience with procedures and methodologies for operational space and space 2.0.
  • Proficiency in Magic Draw, Windchill, Primavera, SAP, Office, Matlab or Python.
  • Knowledge of INCOSE, CMMI, MIL-STD, ISO standards.
  • Bilingual in French and English, with French required for the role.
