Job summary

Curtiss-Wright is seeking a System Administrator, Staff to protect and optimize enterprise data and network security in Ottawa. The role emphasizes implementing security controls, configuring systems, and performing backups while supporting compliance with defense-related cybersecurity frameworks.

The position requires hands-on troubleshooting, efficient incident resolution, and strong collaboration with IT teams to maintain availability and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining security of enterprise data and networks.
• Ability to install and configure software/hardware.
• Experience with backups, firewalls, and access controls.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards (NIST SP 800-171, ISO 27001) in defense contexts.
• Excellent written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data across host computers, databases and data transfers.
• Set end user accounts, permissions, access rights and storage allocations per privacy and security best practices.
• Install and configure software and hardware; maintain security through access controls, backups and firewalls.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops, servers, printers and workstations; escalate as needed.
• Perform network asset management and document technical specs; monitor performance and plan improvements.

Under general direction, this job performs moderately complex activities regarding monitoring system hardware, network, and infrastructure software performance, solves problems, and suggests improvements. The purpose of this job is to protect availability and security of computer systems and network connections. They must be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. They will participate in the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance is consistent with Company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Ottawa, ON

Salary: $ 67,900.00-$90,500.00

Your Challenge

Ensures the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance with business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance. Sets end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.

Installs and configures software and hardware. Ensures security through access controls, backups, and firewalls. Performs and tests routine system backups and restores.

Identifies , troubleshoots, and resolves hardware and software problems on desktops, servers, printers, and workstations and escalates incidents as necessary.

Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. Analyzes system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance. Recommends, schedules, and performs software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.

Implement s and help enforce compliance to cybersecurity frameworks applicable to defense suppliers ( e.g. NIST SP 800 171, CMMC, ISO 27001).

Your Expertise

• Technical knowledge of network and PC, operating systems and hardware, local area network administration
• Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
• Customer service orientation
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information preferred
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills preferred
