Jobbeschreibung

Join a Challenger

At EQ, we're remaking banking so every Canadian gets ahead, every day. Serving nearly 4 million Canadians from coast to coast, we offer a wide variety of financial services from banking and lending, to trust and credit union solutions.

We've been at this since 1970, challenging the conventions of traditional banking with smarter, faster, and more connected financial experiences.

What's kept us moving?

The people behind it all: challengers who ask better questions, push back on old assumptions, and look for a better way forward.

If you're driven to help reshape how banking works for Canadians and the businesses that power our economy, this could be your next big opportunity. We can’t wait to get to know you!

We can’t wait to get to know you!

As part of a growing and dynamic Commercial Syndicated Lending team, the Syndication Analyst will support the team in the management of syndicate partner relationships. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: providing product-specific advice regarding the Bank’s commercial product, educating investors on the Bank’s policies and procedures, and marketing the Bank’s financial solutions to investors through regular ongoing contact.

In this role, the Syndication Analyst must be knowledgeable about Equitable Bank’s mortgage products and processes while having a good understanding of the underwriting, risk and compliance guidelines to ensure all files meet industry and company regulatory requirements.

Syndication Support (50%)
  • Responsible for document fulfillment through all parts of the loan lifecycle. Prepare and execute all loan sale documentation and provide ongoing support, both internally and externally, during the underwriting process.
  • Team with Originations and Credit to ensure file integrity and maintain a consistent folder for our external partners.
  • Assist in communicating terms and conditions on syndicated loans to external partners.
  • Collaborate with the team in providing concise, yet informative responses to syndicate partners on their requests.
  • Communicate and follow up with syndicate partners on required documents and help to ensure that files are AML compliant.
  • Assist colleagues in Syndications and Portfolio Management in the ongoing management and oversight of the syndicated loan portfolio.
Internal Liaison (40%)
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless, efficient handling of syndicated transactions throughout the full lifecycle to maturity or payout.
  • Work closely with internal teams to facilitate the onboarding of investors and the funding and maintenance of syndicated commercial assets.
Ad Hoc (10%)
  • Assist in the preparation and updating of reporting for the Syndicated Lending team.
  • Explore ways in which to streamline and improve existing processes and reporting requirements.
  • Address other ad hoc requirements, as needed, to support internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Post‑secondary education (diploma/degree) preferably in business or finance is required.
  • 2-4 years of lending experience and demonstrated commercial lending underwriting proficiency.
  • Knowledge of loan syndication principles, planning and tactics
  • Sound technical knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, financial statement analysis and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market
  • Effective analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Working knowledge of AML/ATF regulations and Corporate/Legal documentation (both direct and partner originated transactions) for commercial real estate in multiple jurisdictions across Canada
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond in a clear, concise and professional manner

The position requires an individual to be a self-starter and make sound underwriting and servicing recommendations as efficiently as possible. The incumbent should be prepared to always manage files of complexity and shall possess cognitive skills, professional judgement and the ability to work independently to properly assess individual transactions and rely on past experiences to assist in mitigating risk. Transactions may be presented from multiple partners, each having unique complexities. As such, the incumbent must be able to draw on specific product/document knowledge to assess suitability.

Accountability

The position operates under direct management of the VP, Commercial Real Estate Credit, however, works most closely with, and takes direction from, other members of the Syndicate Lending team. The accountability of the role falls mainly within the parameters of their daily duties, managing their deal flow as assigned. The position is required to provide optimum customer service with the goal of maintaining long-standing relationships and providing support in the development of new business connections.

Physical Demands/Working Condition

Normal Office environment with no physical demands, however, there is pressure, at times, placed on the role due to the time sensitivity of each transaction and to meet production targets. Hybrid work is expected with 3 days in person depending on the level and seniority of the role.
