About Us

We’re a new swim school located in the heart of Kitchener, dedicated to nurturing young swimmers and building strong aquatic foundations. Our mission is to make swimming accessible and enjoyable for children of all ages. We're looking for passionate Swim Instructors/Lifeguards to lead our growing team and swim programs and cultivate a positive, engaging environment that supports students and their families. Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Teaching swimming techniques, developing lesson plans, and adapting instruction for individual needs.
  • Lifeguarding: Monitoring the pool for potential hazards, performing rescues, administering first aid, and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Carry an aid at all times. Perform emergency rescues according to your certifications. Respond to patron inquiries, resolve problems, and conduct public education duties as needed.
  • Monitoring instructional and recreational swimming activities: Patrolling the pool deck and scanning the water, as well as monitoring patrons and volunteers to ensure a safe swim environment
  • Safety and Supervision: Ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants, enforcing pool rules, and educating patrons on water safety. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
  • Facility Management: Setting up the pool deck prior to your shift & cleaning the deck following your shift
  • Reporting: Track and maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress. Completing reports, assessments, and other program-related paperwork.
  • Attend all scheduled staff training
  • Record all hours worked
  • Keep all certifications current
  • Relationships: Build strong rapport with students and parents, communicating progress and celebrating achievements.
  • Community: Actively contribute to building a supportive, engaged community both within the school and the local area.

Requirements

  • General to strong knowledge of swimming pool safety regulations and procedures
  • Passion for Swimming: A deep, genuine passion for swimming and teaching, with a focus on developing swimmers’ technical skills, confidence, and performance.
  • Experience with aquatic facility operations and maintenance.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with swimmers, parents, and staff.
  • Leadership Ability: A natural leader with the ability to inspire, motivate, and help students become confident swimmers
  • Child-Centered Approach: Understanding of child development and ability to tailor methods and your natural style for different age groups and skill levels.
  • Previous experience teaching swimming lessons (min. 1 year)
  • Lifesaving Society's Swim Instructor Certification
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
  • National Lifeguard Certification
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Participating in special events and promotional activities.
  • Adhering to relevant regulations and policies.
  • Strong swimming skills and experience in teaching or coaching swimming.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
