Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Meadowvale (Mississauga) is hiring a Swim Instructor for a NEW facility opening Sept 2026. The role involves teaching water safety and swim techniques per the Goldfish curriculum, with opportunities for advancement and paid training.

Flexible shifts are available to fit student or additional hours, with in-water training starting soon after recruitment. Requirements include ability to work with children, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and certifications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred.
• National Lifeguard, CPR-C and Standard First Aid certifications required.
• Experience with youth programs or childcare is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Enforces safety rules and performs rescues and first aid when necessary.
• Evaluates students’ progress and completes required paperwork.
• Interacts with parents/guardians about student development and progress.
• Acts as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction and safety.
• Uses problem-solving to resolve student challenges during class.
• Maintains pool areas and equipment and reports issues to management.
• Performs Lifeguard duties and Deck Teacher duties as needed.
• Attends mandatory workshops and in-service training beyond regular hours.

Job Title: Swim Instructor

Reports to: Deck Supervisor, Aquatics Manager, General Manager

Summary: Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
2. Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary.
3. Evaluates students’ progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
4. Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills.
5. Acts as a GSS “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction.
6. Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
7. Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate.
8. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines.
9. Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork.
10. Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
11. Performs Lifeguard duties as needed.
12. Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion.
13. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours.
14. Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Requirements

We require a commitment to work a minimum of (2) shifts per week - minimum 8 hours per week.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred. Swimming experience required.

Certificates and Licenses: National Lifeguard, CPR-C and Standard First Aid certification required.

Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
