Job summary

The University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach SW 202 – Critical Issues/Critical Thought in Winter 2027 via remote delivery by Zoom. The course examines the foundations of critical thinking in social work across oppression, poverty, health, child welfare and violence.

The ideal candidate holds an MSW, demonstrates related teaching experience, and can deliver 13 synchronous lectures with strong assessment and student support, under URFA CUPE terms.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content as listed above.
• Superior communications skills (both written and verbal).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
• Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
• Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester. Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
• Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
• Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

SW 202 – Critical Issues/Critical Thought

This course examines the foundations of critical thinking with application to social work issues in such areas as oppression, poverty, health, child welfare and violence.

The semester class period is from January 6, 2027 to April 28, 2027 with the final exam period running from April 15, 2027 to April 28, 2027.

Sessional Lecturers that are teaching remote delivery classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester.

Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours

This course is offered on Tuesday’s from 11:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.

The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach remote delivery via Zoom (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the Zoom room 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
