Job description

Mini Mall Storage Properties has experienced rapid growth since beginning operations in 2020, and our momentum shows no signs of slowing as we continue acquiring storage facilities across North America. We are dedicated to making storage simple, accessible, and convenient for all of life’s transitions and treasures, while staying focused on leading the industry and challenging traditional norms.

Our mission is to deliver the Mini Mall Experience in everything that we do, with a strong focus on our Service, Brand, and Employee Experiences. Our team’s dedication is what enables us to deliver an exceptional service experience to our customers – both internal and external, uphold a high level of brand consistency, and foster a workplace culture of innovation, inclusion, and collaboration.

Guided by our values of integrity, grit, customer focus, community, and safety and security, our goal is to work together to create a company where everyone is motivated to contribute to our shared mission. We are looking for someone to help us continue to redefine the self-storage industry, build lasting relationships with the communities we serve, and set new standards for our business.

Join us in shaping the future of self-storage as we expand across North America, and create long-lasting, meaningful careers.

Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer for the Avenue Living Group of Companies, this role will be responsible for initiating and leading strategic initiatives to support the growth and development of the Mini Mall business. This includes all aspects of the delivery model such as talent acquisition, employee experience, talent management and total rewards. A growth-oriented, results-driven and entrepreneurial minded leader is critical to success in this role. Key areas of focus will be leading programs that drive attraction and retention of top talent, fostering a market setting employee experience, and playing the role of coach and advisor to the leadership team.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Manage and lead the Mini Mall People & Culture team with a focus on building, mentoring, and supporting the continued career growth of the team.
  • Oversee workforce planning, talent acquisition and onboarding to ensure the recruitment and integration of top talent meet the current and future needs of the business.
  • Recommend and implement programs, processes and tools to enable the organization to continue to drive a pool of high-quality talent.
  • Manage total rewards programs and offerings within the business.
  • Partner with leaders across the business to coach and support their leadership development and capability.
  • Lead the acquisition integration from a culture and HR process perspective.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify learning and development opportunities to promote a learning and growth organization.
  • Play an active role in the development, implementation and adoption of enterprise People & Culture programs and initiatives.
WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Human Resources, Business or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 15 years of job-related experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience leading People & Culture teams.
  • Experience in a fast paced, early growth environment.
  • Ability to operate at a strategic advisory level, but also the ability to perform at a working leader level when required.
  • Experience developing and implementing culture, performance management, and total rewards programs.
  • Mergers and acquisitions experience, integrating new businesses, culture and processes.
  • Superior relationship building capability grounded in early and sustainable trust and demonstrated capability as a strategic business partner.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, regulation, and best practices in both the Canadian and US employment environment.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the translation of the People & Culture Strategy to the achievement of the business strategy.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into HR plans and programs that address business objectives.
  • Ability to deal with ease in ambiguous situations maintaining poise and presence.
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and doing so with confidence, respect and impact.
  • Direct management of complex employee relations issues.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?

  • We live and breathe our core values. We make a difference and have a positive impact on people. We act responsibly and hold ourselves, and each other, accountable. We are a community with a shared ambition to unify our teams and customers. We act deliberately, and always with integrity and compassion.
  • With the support from your teammates and senior leadership, you will be empowered to do things differently, grow personally and professionally, and bring your whole self to work. There's no limit to the impact you can make.
  • We provide a competitive compensation package comprised of a group benefits plan, 401K matching program, and discretionary bonus program.
  • We are committed to a safety-first work environment.
