We value people who are eager to explore new ideas and who are comfortable putting emerging technologies into practice. We see experience with AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms as a real plus - especially when it’s used to work smarter, increase efficiency, and find better ways to get things done.

Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we’re passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people. As part of the AMA team, you’ll enjoy:

  • Competitive wage
  • Employee-exclusive discounts on travel, insurance, memberships, and more
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Vacation earnings paid out with each pay period
  • Flexible work models that make sense for your lifestyle
Who You Are
  • You are deeply passionate about sustainability and climate change, with a highly developed understanding of environmental issues and a drive to make a real impact
  • You are an exceptional communicator and relationship-builder who can present effectively to diverse audiences - from front-line employees to executives and board members.
  • You bring outstanding influence management skills and naturally build trust with stakeholders at all levels, both inside and outside the organization.
  • You are an independent, strategic thinker who fosters curiosity and continuous process improvement, with the ability to translate concepts into actionable plans.
  • You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and are results-oriented, with strong program, project and/or change management skills.
  • You are a collaborative team player who inspires others to become sustainability champions and can coach cross-functional teams to deliver on shared goals.
How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Partner with operations, departments, employees and employee groups to identify new opportunities for sustainability programs.
  • Coordinate and empower cross-functional teams to develop and execute plans to reduce AMA’s environmental footprint, tracking the impact and execution of initiatives across the organization.
  • Build momentum by educating stakeholders on sustainability efforts in collaboration with the Green Squad, employee communications, public relations and other enterprise teams.
  • Serve as environmental sustainability lead for annual impact reporting, working with Corporate Communications, Marketing and Creative Agency teams on implementation.
  • Monitor global, government and regulatory news, trends and best practices to stay current on the evolving sustainability landscape and standards.
  • Support identification and tracking of key sustainability metrics and benchmarks, making recommendations to monitor progress and reputation.
  • Manage program budgets and external consultants or vendors as needed.
  • Develop business cases for sustainability programs and build compelling, effective presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the CAA and AAA Federations to support and advance sustainability programs.
  • Assume responsibility for tracking and reporting emissions, waste and energy utilization, and ensure AMA’s regulated entities meet required reporting and compliance obligations.
  • Work closely with Communications and Human Resources teams to tell AMA’s sustainability story as part of the employer brand, and in recruitment, retention and onboarding.
  • Plan and coordinate meeting content for the Green Squad and the Environmental Sustainability Sub-Committee.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with environmental and sustainability programs, including materiality assessments, goals, targets and KPIs, implementation roadmaps, and corporate sustainability strategies.
