Job summary

Dawson Civil in Kamloops, BC, is seeking a Surveyor to join our team for seasonal, full-time work supporting civil construction projects across British Columbia.

You will conduct field surveys, stake sites, record measurements, interpret plans, and maintain survey files while ensuring safety and quality.

Regular travel throughout the province is required; a valid driver’s license and GPS/Total Station experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in field surveys for civil construction projects.
• Proficiency with GPS and total station equipment.
• Ability to interpret plans, drawings and field measurements.
• Strong data recording, notes and QA/QC skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Strong verbal and written communication; team player.

Responsibilities

• Perform field surveys, including construction staking and topographic surveys.
• Interpret plans and calculations to support project needs.
• Create, organize and manage survey files.
• Verify existing control and establish new control as needed.
• Record measurements accurately and maintain field notes.
• Research land records and land titles as required.
• Prioritize safety and follow site procedures.

Job description

Dawson Civilis seeking a Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will perform field surveys, interpret plans, and create/manage survey files that support our civil construction projects throughout British Columbia.

As a valued member of Dawson Civil, you will work in a seasonal, full-time Surveyor position reporting to the Survey Manager. Your home base will beKamloops, BC, with regular travel throughout the province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Always prioritizing the safety of yourself and others
• Conducting field surveys, including construction staking, topographic, design, and volumetric surveys
• Accurately recording measurements and data, preparing field notes, and performing quality control on survey work
• Interpreting plans and completing required calculations
• Creating, organizing, and managing survey files
• Verifying existing survey control and establishing new control as needed
• Researching land records, survey records, and land titles

WHAT YOU BRING

• Surveying experience, ideally within the civil construction industry
• Proficiency with GPS and total station equipment
• Knowledge of general surveying techniques and equipment (e.g., laser, level)
• Ability to interpret and use information from maps, drawings, and field measurements
• A valid driver’s license
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
• A strong commitment to safety
