Job summary

Dawson Civil in Kamloops, BC is seeking a Surveyor to join our team for a seasonal, full-time role. You will perform field surveys, interpret plans, and create and manage survey files that support our civil construction projects throughout British Columbia.

Based in Kamloops with regular travel across BC, you will work under the Survey Manager, contribute to safety and data quality, and collaborate with field crews to deliver accurate measurements and well-organized survey files.

Qualifications

• Surveying experience in civil construction preferred.
• Proficiency with GPS and total station equipment.
• Knowledge of surveying techniques and equipment (laser, level).
• Ability to interpret maps, drawings and field measurements.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform field surveys, including construction staking, topographic, design, and volumetric surveys.
• Create, organize, and manage survey files.
• Interpret plans and complete required calculations.
• Record measurements, document field notes, and perform data QC.
• Verify existing survey control and establish new control as needed.
• Research land records, survey records, and land titles.

Job description

Dawson Civilis seeking a Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will perform field surveys, interpret plans, and create/manage survey files that support our civil construction projects throughout British Columbia.

As a valued member of Dawson Civil, you will work in a seasonal, full-time Surveyor position reporting to the Survey Manager. Your home base will beKamloops, BC, with regular travel throughout the province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Always prioritizing the safety of yourself and others
• Conducting field surveys, including construction staking, topographic, design, and volumetric surveys
• Accurately recording measurements and data, preparing field notes, and performing quality control on survey work
• Interpreting plans and completing required calculations
• Creating, organizing, and managing survey files
• Verifying existing survey control and establishing new control as needed
• Researching land records, survey records, and land titles

WHAT YOU BRING

• Surveying experience, ideally within the civil construction industry
• Proficiency with GPS and total station equipment
• Knowledge of general surveying techniques and equipment (e.g., laser, level)
• Ability to interpret and use information from maps, drawings, and field measurements
• A valid driver’s license
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
• A strong commitment to safety
