The Opportunity :

McElhanney seeks an experienced and motivated Survey / Geomatics Technician for our Campbell River office. This role offers hands-on surveying experience within a multidisciplinary team, working alongside Land Surveyors, Survey Technologists, Engineers, and Technologists on various legal, topographic, engineering, and construction projects. Responsibilities include field survey services, working with drones, LiDAR, bathymetric systems, and office processing and deliverables.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring pre-employment drug & alcohol testing and fitness for work.

What You’ll Be Doing :

  • Lead field crews, prepare notes, sketches, and data.
  • Conduct conventional and GPS surveys.
  • Create survey drawings and legal plans from field data.
  • Interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Coordinate with project managers and clients.
  • Implement quality assurance for field and office deliverables.

What You’ll Bring :

  • Two-year diploma in geomatics or civil engineering, with up to 5 years of experience, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Microsurvey, AutoCAD Civil3D, Trimble tools, and RPAS systems is a plus.
  • Physical fitness, environmental adaptability, and willingness to work remotely.
  • Knowledge of survey calculations, geodetic systems, and BC Land Titles.
  • Strong communication skills and a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Salary Range : $59,000 to $82,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
