The Opportunity:

McElhanney is seeking a highly skilledSurvey Crew Lead/ Field Geomatics Supervisor to join our team in Fort St. John BC.As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Project Managers to ensure geomatics projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual and legal requirements. With a focus on energy and resource support and development, as well as our local Fort St John engineering, construction and legal survey work, and the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting and challenging projects throughout Western Canada. • The ability to travel and work out of town in remote areas is an asset and may be required.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required, as well as pre-site access testing as per client requirements.
• Field completion of various types of topographic surveys, high precision construction surveys and legal surveys aroundFort St. John and Northern BC,
• Manage information flow from field to office and prepare clear, concise, and accurate field notes, records, and calculations
• Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.

What You’ll Bring:

• Two-year technical diploma in Geomatics or Civil Engineering with at least 3-5 years of previous experience in a similar role.
• Experience working in remote environments
• Physical ability to work in mountainous and forested terrain and ability to lift heavy equipment.
• Willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours.
• Experience with Civil 3D, MicroSurvey and Trimble Business Centre is an asset but not required.
• Experience with Underground Utility Locating is an asset but not required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, sound judgment skills, and general computer knowledge.

The salary range for this position is$29-$40 per hour.McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
