Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking an experienced Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) specialized in surgical care. The role focuses on pre-operative and post-operative assessment, patient instruction, and discharge planning to ensure high-quality care in the immediate perioperative phase.

The successful candidate will perform physical and psychological assessments, assist with mobilization and postoperative teaching, while collaborating with RNs and the health care team to uphold

Qualificações

• Current Ontario College of Nurses Registration
• Diploma in RPN mandatory
• Current BCLS certification required
• Minimum 1-2 years recent surgical experience required
• Successful completion of Physical Assessment course
• Venipuncture IV certification and phlebotomy skills required
• Successful completion of Medication Administration course
• Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and ability to prioritize in a stressful environment required
• Excellent computer skills required
• In-depth knowledge of the effects of General and Regional Anaesthetics
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Proven ability to promote Client Centered Care in a clinic environment

Responsabilidades

• Provide pre-operative and post-operative assessment and discharge planning
• Support Same Day RPN with high level patient care
• Assess, instruct and prepare patients undergoing various surgeries
• Adapt to fast-changing and stressful environment
• Assist with patient mobilization, transfers and ambulation
• Provide post-operative health teaching on recovery and pain management
• Collaborate with RN and other team members to deliver care
