Job summary

Dentalcorp in Halifax, Canada, is seeking a Dental Assistant to support dentists and hygienists in a busy surgical setting. You will prepare rooms, assist during procedures including extractions and implants, manage sterilization, and educate patients on post-treatment care.

The role emphasizes patient comfort, efficient chairside support, and adherence to IPAC standards in a modern dental practice. NDAEB certification and provincial registration are required.

Qualifications

• Registered as a Dental Assistant with your Provincial regulatory body or association is required.
• NDAEB Certification is required.
• 3–5 years of experience in a surgical setting assisting with extractions, implants and other procedures.
• Previous dental assisting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and materials for procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
• Assist dentists and hygienists during treatments, maintaining patient comfort and workflow.
• Assist the dentist during oral surgery procedures, including extractions and implants.
• Take dental X-rays and digital images as required.
• Perform instrument sterilization and infection control following IPAC standards.
• Update patient charts and provide education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.

Your Role:

• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment
• Assistdentists and hygienists during treatments,maintainingpatient comfort and workflow
• Assist the dentist during oral surgery procedures, including extractions, implant placements, root cancls and other surgical treatments.
• Pre and post operative care instructions to patients
• Take dental X-rays and digital images asrequired
• Perform instrument sterilization and infection control following IPAC standards
• Update patient charts and provide education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
• Anticipate the needs of the dentist during procedures and provide efficient chairside support.
• Collaborate with the dental team to deliver efficient, high-quality care
• Follow all privacy, safety, and regulatory guidelines
• Establish strong patient relationships whilemaintainingethical professional behaviour

About You:

• Registeredas aDental Assistant with your Provincial regulatory body or associationisrequired
• NDAEB Certification
• 3-5 years of experience working in a surgical setting assisting with extractions, implants and other procedures
• Previousdentalassistingexperience is preferred
