Island Health is seeking a Surgical Care Nurse who will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality nursing care in a multidisciplinary team environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational abilities, relevant nursing qualifications, and experience in surgical and ambulatory care. This role demands effective communication and the ability to perform under pressure while ensuring patient safety and care standards.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Working as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, the Surgical Care Nurse functions as an experienced self-directed surgical care nurse by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And ExperienceRegistration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant; and
Post-basic education in surgical/ambulatory care nursing on a unit specific basis; or
An equivalent combination of education and training.
Up to two (2) years recent, related experience on a unit specific basis.
