Job summary

Indwell in Mississauga invites applications for a Supportive Housing Coordinator – Full Time at the Lakeshore Lofts Program. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to support tenants in treatment, rehabilitation, and independent living.

The role demands compassion, strong problem solving, and the ability to connect tenants with community resources; on-call rotation and weekend/evening shifts are required to meet program needs.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in related field or equivalent.
  • Experience within a case management framework with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use, or other special needs.
  • Recent PVSC with information acceptable to Indwell, at applicant's cost.
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of local community resources, including Indigenous resources and history.
  • Awareness of Indigenous culture and the impacts of residential schools and trauma.
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant relations is beneficial; a warm, caring approach.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and support people living with mental illness.
  • Work independently, strong problem-solving skills, be flexible, organized, and take initiative.
  • Valid G class driver's license with own vehicle.

Position Description

Participating as a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will support the treatment, rehabilitation, andcarefor individualswithin the program.This housingprogram serves individuals who have experienced long term housing instability and/or long stayhospitalizations.

Hours of Work

40 hours per week including weekdays, weekends, evenings and some public holidays. Hours worked to be scheduled as required by program needs.As the program operates 7 days a week, being on-call for 1 week every 4-6 weeks is required to support the tenants and each other on the team. The on-call rotation consists of carrying a work cell phone 24/7 for that one week, responding to urgent matters.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Providing direct and indirect support to tenants living with substance use disorders through a harm reduction approach.
  • Helping individuals connect to community resources and supports.
  • Reinforcing individuals’ life skills, spirituality, and social and community skills.
  • Planning and facilitating programs.
  • Coordinating with outside organizations to provide cultural programming.
  • Assisting with admission and orientation of new tenants.
  • Rent collection, pest management, and other landlord responsibilities.
  • Supporting individuals to achieve their goals while encouraging independence and recovery.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Post Secondary education in related field or equivalent
  • Experience working within a case management framework with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use, or other special needs
  • Recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with the information therein acceptable by Indwell to meet the operational requirements of the program- at one’s own cost
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification from an approved provider that meets Ontario provincial standards or willingness to register for the training within 30 days of employment-reimbursement by Indwell
  • A knowledge of local community resources, including local indigenous resources and community
  • Awareness of Indigenous culture and history and in particular, the impacts of residential schools and intergenerational trauma.
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant relations is beneficial.A warm, sensitive, and caring approach
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and have a genuine interest in supporting people living with mental illness
  • Work independently, have strong problem-solving skills, be flexible, organized, responsible, and take initiative
  • A valid “G” class driver’s license with own vehicle
