Job summary

Communitas is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to help individuals in group living settings lead fulfilling lives. You will support holistic needs and advocate for dignity and choice, while promoting personal growth in alignment with our philosophy and values.

The role requires a team-oriented approach with flexibility to cover days, evenings, overnights and weekends, plus on-the-job training and potential growth opportunities within the organization.

Qualifications

• Must have a Community Support Worker certificate or willingness to obtain in-house training.
• Strong communication, teamwork and independent work ability required.
• Must hold a Class 5 BC Driver’s License and aim to obtain a Class 4 within months of hire.

• Support persons in group living settings to meet holistic needs across physical, emotional, social, and medical areas.

TheSupport Workersupports the persons served in leading fulfilling lives within group living settings, in alignment with the philosophy and values of Communitas. It ensures that each person's physical, emotional, social, spiritual, educational, and medical needs are met throughout all stages of life - including end-of-life care.This role focuses on fostering dignity, choice, and personal growth, helping each person served reach their fullest potential while honoring their unique journey.

Here's what we need from you:

• The ability to take initiative with creativity and flexibility
• The ability to work as a member of a team as well as being able to work independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness and ability to provide coverage for a variety of shifts including days, evenings, overnights (awake) and weekends
• Community Support Worker certificate; we provide in-house training if you do not have this certificate
• Possession of a Class 5 BC Drivers License with the ability to obtain a Class 4 BC Driver’s License 3-6 months after hire
• Personal Driving Record
• Emergency First Aid Certificate
• Doctor’s Note of Good Health
