Job summary

Tiffany Hills Early Learning & Child Care Centre in Hamilton, ON is seeking an on-call Supply Early Childhood Educator. The role involves providing flexible coverage across programs, co-creating play-based experiences, and upholding inclusive practices. You will collaborate with families and align with O. Reg. guidelines; immunizations, First Aid, and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Current knowledge of CCEYA.
  • Thorough knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
  • Experience in a child care setting.
  • Up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, Polio, MMR).
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator in good standing.
  • First Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • Recent Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an on-call Supply Early Childhood Educator across programs in the region.
  • Collaborate with children to co-create experiences exploring interests.
  • Offer diverse programming supporting wellbeing and expression of children.
  • Explore varied approaches to early learning, including play-based and project-based methods.
  • Create welcoming, safe environments for children and families.
  • Build strong family partnerships through meaningful communication and events.
  • Align with Ontario's emergent curriculum and How Does Learning Happen? guidelines.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Current knowledge and understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
  • Thorough knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
  • Experience working with children in a child care setting
  • Record of up-to-date Immunization (TB Test, Tetanus, Polio, MMR)
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator, in good standing
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check (done in the last 6 months)
  • Valid Driver's License

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as an on-call Supply Early Childhood Educator, providing flexible coverage across programs in the region by picking up shifts based on personal availability.
  • Work collaboratively with children as our partners to co-create experiences to investigate, explore, and amplify their interests.
  • Offer dynamic, diverse, and unique programming that supports the well-being, engagement, and expression of children.
  • Consider and explore a wide variety of approaches to early learning, including Reggio-Emilia Approach, Play-based and Project-based Learning, Outdoor Education, Arts-based Learning, HIGH Five Principles of Healthy Child Development, Positive Youth Development, among other evidence-based approaches and practices.
  • Facilitate belonging for children and families by creating welcoming, accepting, and safe environments for children and families to learn and play.
  • Work collaboratively to build strong family partnerships in our communities through meaningful communication, facilitation of events and opportunities to involve and engage families in our work.
  • Be innovative in their approach to alignment with Ontario's emergent curriculum and guiding pedagogical philosophy, 'How Does Learning Happen?'
