Job description

Job Title: Early Childhood Educator

Reporting to the Principal, the Designated Early Childhood Educator will partner with the classroom teacher to plan and implement a full-day early learning program supporting faith initiatives within a Catholic classroom setting. The educator will also provide supervision and age-appropriate Catholic programming for groups of students as part of the extended day program, as required.

Qualifications
  1. Two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma and proof of registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  2. One to three years of childcare experience in a childcare or educational setting.
  3. Knowledge of Ministry of Education full-day early learning program and related legislation.
  4. Knowledge of ALCDSB policies and administrative procedures.
  5. Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  6. Excellent communication skills with children, parents, staff, and the public.
  7. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  8. Ability to manage classroom situations, stressful and emergency scenarios.
  9. Experience planning and implementing age-appropriate Catholic programs.
  10. Basic computer skills, strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  11. Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, move and carry equipment, and assist children physically as needed (e.g., lifting).
  12. A Catholic or Roman Catholic Baptismal Certificate is required.

Additional Requirements

Successful candidates must provide a Criminal Background Check (CBC) with vulnerable sector screening, current within six months of hire.

Employment Conditions

This position involves on-call work replacing absent staff. Full-time and part-time temporary opportunities are often available and are offered to supply staff. Supply staff are prioritized for permanent positions.

Salary

$25.80 per hour
