Job summary

A leading packaging solutions provider located in Toronto is seeking a Supply Chain Supervisor to ensure effective planning for supply, production, and inventory. The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of experience in supply planning and leadership, with a strong background in ERP systems and exceptional communication skills. Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in supply, production, and/or capacity planning in industry.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience with coaching and mentoring.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Research, or related fields preferred.

Position Description

Title: Supply Chain Supervisor

Department: Operations

Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Manager

Status: Full time

Position Purpose: Ensuring that the supply, distribution, production, capacity, and inventory plans are established in conjunction with demand plan and manufacturing process to meet business needs. The role will ensure that product is available at the right time and right location ready to ship to satisfy customer demand. The role involves establishing an inventory strategy to deliver customer service goals and ensuring that capacity plans are developed to support the demand plan. The role is one of the key links between the manufacturing facilities, demand planning and the business teams including Marketing, Sales, Finance, Logistics, and Customer Service. This position will report to the Plant Manager, this role will be in Toronto Plant Location, and reporting to this role is scheduling, shipping, warehouse and cycle counting.

Principle Accountabilities
  • Executing an effective, timely supply planning process that includes supply model design, distribution and production planning & scheduling, capacity planning, inventory planning to cover a rolling horizon. Accountable for performance to plan, plan stability, customer service and inventory levels.
  • Executing effective, timely phase‑in and phase‑out plans for new products, product changes, to support innovation and product change management process by interacting with Demand planning, Marketing and Sales.
  • Settling and supporting strategic direction for inventory management in line with business growth strategies.
  • Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on the delivery of the supply and inventory plans following release for execution on a weekly basis.
  • Working jointly with supply chain teams and internal/external manufacturing sites to identify options when supply is strained or constrained.
  • Managing internal and external manufacturing capacity & communicating risks and opportunities within the S&OP process.
  • Driving culture of analysis and execution taking ownership of identified issues in supply planning to drive quantifiable solutions and positive business results.
  • Maintains an effective inventory management location structure.
  • Executes a cycle management process – Measured by completion; process controls; measured by inventory write‑offs. Leads and coordinates an effective annual inventory process.
  • Manages a Safe and effective shipping operation.
  • Coach and mentor the Logistics Coordinator on effective tasks management of all Logistical operations for Toronto. Backup for Logistics Coordinator on Vacation/Emergency (Booking Trucks US & Local), Booking appointments, Ship release and ability to help in receiving/adjustments.
  • Related duties as assigned by Direct Manager.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in supply, production, and/or capacity planning in industry (required)
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, able to coach and mentor.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Research, Math/Statistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Management is preferred.
  • You have managed and facilitated supply planning, S&OP or Supply Review Meetings.
  • Exceptional computer skills; ERP, Business Intelligence systems or equivalent and Word, Excel, Power point.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate across multiple departments and through multiple levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated influencing, negotiating and conflict management skills.
  • You have strong working knowledge of effective supply chain performance including supply planning, customer service, supplier, and asset management.
  • You have strong passion for creating process and systems improvement.
  • The ability to read, write and understand English.
