Job summary

Flanagan Foodservice is seeking a Supply Chain Planner to forecast, plan, and replenish inventory across our product portfolio, ensuring continuous supply through the distribution network. The role focuses on balancing supply and demand to meet fill rate and inventory turns in a fast-paced environment.

You will generate reports, collaborate with sales and category teams, manage seasonal promotions, and analyze KPI data to drive decisions. APICS CPIM/CSCP and Lean certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain planning/buying with a major retailer or food manufacturer.
• Food and Beverage industry experience/knowledge.
• Strong understanding of inventory management practices.
• Post-secondary education in business, supply chain or related field.
• Experience with ERP and forecasting/replenishment software such as JDA.
• Advanced Excel skills and MS Office.
• Excellent organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Forecasting and replenishment of food and beverage items and other assigned categories.
• Aim to achieve inventory level, inventory turns, and fill rate objectives.
• Issue purchase orders and coordinate with vendors to maintain supply.
• Collaborate with territory managers to align stocking with market conditions.
• Seasonal forecasting and promo planning.
• Manage inventory to meet shelf life and DC capacity.
• Handle obsolete inventory and write-offs for the portfolio.
• Respond to sales requests daily and provide planning support.
• Work with category managers to execute product strategy.
• Communicate supplier issues and supply risks to stakeholders.
• Analyze KPI data to drive decisions.
• Provide root-cause analysis for stock-outs and excess stock.
• Complete health and safety, food safety, and QA training.
• Report concerns related to safety and integrity of items.
• Follow WHMIS and safety procedures; maintain a clean workspace.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Title: Supply Chain Planner

Department: Supply Chain

Position Reports to: Supply Chain Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for the strategic and tactical forecasting, planning and replenishment of inventory for their respective portfolio of products; ensuring perpetual supply through the Flanagan Foodservice DC Network. This role will also generate and maintain various reporting & communication functions to support our customer-facing sales teams. The successful incumbent can demonstrate analytical and decision-making ability, while balancing supply & demand to meet fill rate and inventory turns performance in a complex, dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Forecasting & replenishment of food and beverage items and other categories as assigned.

• Achieve inventory level, inventory turns, and fill rate objectives.
• Issuance of Purchase Orders and communicating with vendors and carriers to maintain continuous supply.
• Collaborating with territory managers to understand market conditions, sales & demand trends and adjust stocking position accordingly within our ERP.
• Seasonal forecasting and promo management & planning.
• Managing inventory to meet shelf life and DC capacity requirements.
• Manage obsolete inventory and write-offs pertaining to the portfolio.
• Communicate and respond to sales team requests on a daily basis or as needed.
• Provide supply chain planning support and coverage for team as required.
• Work daily with category managers on executing the product strategy to drive profitable case volume.
• Communicate effectively with category management on known supplier issues and risk to supply.
• Critically analyze KPI data to drive strategic decision-making.
• Provide root-cause analysis on stock-out and excess supply situations.
• Complete and keep up to date on all Health & Safety, Food Safety and Quality Assurance training pertinent to the role.
• Responsible for reporting any and all concerns related to the Health & Safety, safe handling and integrity of all items received, stored and distributed by Flanagan Foodservice.
• Adherence to all Health & Safety, Food Safety and WHMIS practices.
• Follow safe and efficient work procedures to meet customer requirements including maintaining a clean and safe environment
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience Supply Chain Planning/Buying experience with a major retailer, global/broadline distributor or food manufacturer.
• Food and Beverage industry experience/knowledge.
• Strong understanding of inventory management practices.
• Post-secondary education in business, supply chain or a related field.
• Experience with ERP systems and forecasting & replenishment software such as JDA.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with advanced level in Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize competing tasks.
• Ability to work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team and cross-functional departments.
• Highly organized, with proven time management skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve problems.
• Experience working with large product portfolios.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
